Did a satisfaction threshold exist under 1000 bucks ?
IT's only getting harder these days for most folks in the USA to merely make ends meet.  That bodes even less well for the future of high end audio as we know it in these parts.  PEople are going to have to suck it up and make a lot of adjustments...
Did a satisfaction threshold exist under 1000 bucks ?
Good news:  Its very doable without a doubt these days for most people to be more than satisfied with the sound in their home using many different approaches for less than $1000. The only drawback is membership in the prestigious high end audio cl...
New Generation Class D - AGD Audion Mkiii upgrade
There are many way less costly options and are too expensive for people not into high end audio (99%?) , but having heard them they sound very good and are likely to retain a niche in teh high end world for the foreseeable future. Plus the modular...
If I rip all my CD's to flac files do I still need a CD transport?
If ripping and streaming is done right, CD player no longer needed.  EAC should be fine (I tried it early on years ago)  but I ended up with dbpoweramp and can only recommend that one accordingly.   It's a waste of time IMHO to spend the time ripp...
Moving Soon - Should I Pack Up Everything Now??
It’s a value judgement that only you can make but the smart thing financially would be to optimize the room presentation for best sale value.     Maybe a good time to leverage smaller backup gear if possible or even headphones.
WiFi Streaming Versus An Ethernet Cable Connection
WiFi works fine you just have to make sure you have strong connections
Major innovative break through: The new NSMT Loudspeakers reference speaker
Will they be demoed at upcoming Capital Audiofest? I always like to give products I have heard something good about a listen at shows like that.
Inexpensive but decent 8" subwoofers
@resveratrol3 note that any smaller sub no matter how good may not be a good match to some speakers and/or room. If speakers are fuller range and not high pass filtered you probably need a larger sub to properly fill in the missing lowest octave. ...
Inexpensive but decent 8" subwoofers
Klipsch sw308 or newer model equivalent if you can find one. Front firing woof and two side firing passive radiators deliver extra bang for the size and also makes it easier to integrate well. I use one with a pair of KEF ls50 meta in a smaller ro...
What is the science behind audiophile fuses?
Only the most truly dedicated among us with a few extra bucks to literally burn would pay a fortune for a device whose job is in fact to burn up and destroy itself when needed. At least no drains involved for the money to go unexpectedly down with...
Idalia and Power Issues
How everyone made it through ok. Last time a hurricane came my way the noise floor seemed to rise but on the bright side everything sounded more liquid and airy. 😉 Go figure!
What is the science behind audiophile fuses?
Reseating an existing fuse that is still in good condition alone can help the sound. Best to make sure what you have has no issues before throwing money at the problem and drawing conclusions.   A corollary of that is that almost any replacement ...
What would your "perfect speaker" sound like.
Like no speaker at all
What is the science behind audiophile fuses?
So nobody understands electricity really is the reason to drop big bucks on a fuse?     Sounds like a straw man argument.
Dynamic Range - the golden key to music nirvana?
@panzrwagn maybe you just made a good argument to go with an integrated solution.  I have a Cambrdge Evo all in 1 integrated that to my ears at least has fabulous dynamics.  One would expect the engineers to be able to do a proper job of integrati...
