Do you think driver “break in” is real?
Yes it’s real.
Nad M33 or something better
Hegel gets a lot of love here these days but it’s far from the only fish in the sea and not without its own unique flaws, at least in some cases from what I read, mainly with the digital implementation and overall comparative value. If you do som...

Nice! Good choice on the sub! I’m sure you will end up in a better place this way, but the key is to get teh sub dialed in just right. A good sound meter app like decibel on Iphone along with some streamed white noise as a reference signal can ge...
Nad M33 or something better
I most strongly doubt it’s the amp. Kef R3 have pretty good bass for their size and the m33 should be able to drive them to their max, but most any smaller monitor speaker can benefit by properly adding a subwoofer or two. In general larger rooms ...
+1 I Like It!
It shows as unavailable on qobuz.

The m33 is very good quality  and should work well with the KEFs.    It would help to know what aspect of the sound you are not happy with?
Are cable “upgrades” just as likely to make your system sound worse?
Could be. You never know.
How to make the Focal Kanta No. 2 speakers sing?
Do you use Roon? If so, with the addition of a ~ $150 microphone and freely available software, you could probably create a convolution filter to flexibly address any issues with frequency response in the room, at least when streaming with Roon. ...
How to make the Focal Kanta No. 2 speakers sing?
Just a reminder that technically "warmth" is associated with ~ 150-250hz frequency range which is the upper range of what is considered bass. Worth noting if one is to attempt to add "warmth" . A sub or two properly mixed in might be called for ot...
How to make the Focal Kanta No. 2 speakers sing?
Good point to determine if speakers are broken in yet. Could be that if not.
How to make the Focal Kanta No. 2 speakers sing?
I’m not saying Focal and a tube amp are a technical match made in heaven in that tube amps seldom are for the impedance reasons mentioned, but I do think the tonal results might be of interest in this particular case as described. Individuals ten...
How to make the Focal Kanta No. 2 speakers sing?
If I were you, with those very fine speakers, I would want to hear if a tube amp in place of the Class D would be more to your liking. I’d consider something like a Rogue Cronus Magnum personally. Note I run good quality Class D amps on all my sy...
A "Downgrade" that proved to be a spectacular "Upgrade" -------
It happens all the time.
How easily can you distinguish between different DACs?
@arafiq  With hifi systems I agree a system is only as good as its least performing component, whatever that is and whatever it’s cost may be.
How easily can you distinguish between different DACs?
The assumption is it’s like buying a Ferrari. But it’s a DAC not a car. It may or may not in fact be like a Ferrari DAC. The devil is always in the details. Generalized analogies based solely on price are theoretical and not necessarily backed up ...
