Tube vs. SS Dilemma I glanced at impedance/phase measurements for the GEs from Stereophile review. Issues present appear to be in teh midrange more than bass. IT appears relatively tube friendly, but different amps might sound much different in midrange, depending. T...
Tube vs. SS Dilemma Also I have not seen impedance curve metrics for those Goldenears, but, from what I read and having heard them, I would be willing to bet that they might be a challenge for many amps, cettainly many tube, even some SS, to drive well. It would be w...
Tube vs. SS Dilemma My guess also is that GOldenears are not designed mainly to be run off a tube amp, though on paper I would expect that many larger, better tube amps might do quite well. A good SS amp is probably a safer bet in general with those. Tha might explai...
Tube vs. SS Dilemma I find the best SS and tube setups sound more alike than different to me. The end results/overall synergy of components working together in your room is all that matters. If you like the SS sound, then it is possible that tubes may not do much for ...
Food or beryllium tweeters for my DeCapo's Tube, take note of what specific model those OHM Walsh speakers are when you hear them. Many since inception back in early eighties look the same but do not sound the same. Sound became cleaner, more refined and detailed over time with different g...
Is There a New version of Logitech Media Server? I did the upgrade. Seems to work fine. Not noticing any real difference in my case so far. I also received notice and upgraded both my SB Touchs in addition to the server.
When did you start to love music and why? Chipmunk records as a kid circa 1963.
Ohm Walsh Micro Talls: who's actually heard 'em? No doubt, it all matters what you feed the OHMs. DAC, pre-amp, amp, ICs, power ... I had to change it all along the way to get it where I wanted it to be. Amp change to current BC Class Ds was the last change made.
Tubes vs Solid State Its true with most speakers you cannot have too much power. Think of it as your insurance policy against clipping. Do not leave yourself exposed.
Tubes vs Solid State Schubert, testify!! Eliminate clipping first then tweak if needed. Its the only road to happiness.
If you were setting up a music server today ... meant to say throughput may be limited above, not bandwidth, which is not a factor in transmitting digital data result of a bottleneck resulting from network throughput would be occasional delays in playing, nothing relating to sound quality however.
If you were setting up a music server today ... Agree with Kijanki. Go wireless if you can. Only downside is bandwidth might be limited in some cases with high res files and lots of network activity. I have a very active wifi network in my house and no problems with CD res .wav files.
Is There a New version of Logitech Media Server? Anyone installed to Windows 7 and using .wav files specifically with no ill effects?Or seeing any benefits?
Tubes vs Solid State Some tube amp makers not only show their tubes (gasp!), but have figured out how to make them glow in different colors!!! Like Jolida FX10, which is one sweet looking little amp, like a mini, affordable VAC Phi Beta, which is the Brooklyn Decker o...
Tubes vs Solid State In all seriousness, the best tube amps I have heard sound pretty much like the best SS amps to me and vice versa. Not sure I have ever heard either sound equally top notch with the same speakers though. Gotta look at the whole picture... |
