AI (Audiogon Intelligence)
@ghdprentice no doubt how the network is trained matters.   One thing I like about Poe for example is that when asked a question it often puts a disclaimer at teh top that its knowledge only covers up to a certain date, so for example it would l...
AI (Audiogon Intelligence)
I’d invite folks to try asking your favorite AI app some hifi audio questions and sharing the answers and your thoughts on those here.
AI (Audiogon Intelligence)
I noticed my Linn turntable was making some noise yesterday so I google searched the topic in Microsoft Edge and was able to resolve. MS Edge provided an answer from copilot that was also useful. I work in technology development for a major US fi...
How important is the efficiency of a speaker to you?
More Efficient just means louder. Alone it has little to do with what amps will drive the speakers well ie produce the intended sound completely. That has more to do with how difficult a load which is more about impedance, not efficiency. So real...
Why don't we tire of music?
The more something captures your interest the more time you want to spend with it. It can happen with any form of art, but music is a form that offers many details and always something new or different to soak in with each listen.
Roon is snappy responsive now
I did a couple of things myself recently that also helped Roon performance. 1) disabled some audio devices detected that I didn’t need 2). Ran a clean on my library which cleaned out several thousand legacy items.
How important is the efficiency of a speaker to you?
Class D amps are certainly a lower priced option, but most folks still are not that impressed with the SQ.    Most folks not impressed?   Say what?
roon sound wasn't as good
I created my own room correction filters for Roon using Room EQ wizard freeware and a $100 minidsp mike using an online guide. I apply the room correction then add additional eq filters to season to taste. Results can be tuned in perfectly to pers...
roon sound wasn't as good
Roon DSP functionality takes a little time to get the hang of but it’s worth it and opens up all kinds of possibilities for tailoring the sound room by room, device by device all in digital domain. I use it all the time and have presets for 4 diff...
A quick question on what streamers to consider.......
Wait, Aurender is all proprietary hardware and software, not Roon Ready, and no WiFi? Not for me most likely if any one of these is the case. Roon and WiFi should be standard. If it is Roon compatible, then that solves the proprietary issue.  Unle...
MBL Owners: The "Why" Behind Our Choices and the Search for the Ultimate "Wow" Factor
Mbl done well is very special. Nothing compares. I’ve commented on mbl many times over the years. Search my posts if interested. I am currently a mere Ohm Walsh owner but their designer, the late John Strohbeen, posted on his website that mbl was ...
LTA Ultralinear Plus Integrated vs. Pass Labs XA25/EAR 868pl
LTA seems to provide the best attributes of both tubes and solid state, in an incredibly small, light package   👍
Has anyone heard from bdp24 lately?
Always good to hear from @bdp24
Do you trust your ears more than measurements?
I’ve found that with reliable sources and using both, that my ears typically help confirm what the metrics indicate. So the stars have been aligning pretty well for me in that regard of late…..the best of both worlds.
Vinyl rips - still worth it?
I still do it but with decreasing frequency. Only with records I have that I have to hear and not on Qobuz. I listen while “ripping” the record then it always gets streamed from there. If I did not have a very easy and good quality record cleaner ...
