What did your system look like 30 years ago? Harvey’s definitely had a store on rt 17 Paramus.
What did your system look like 30 years ago? Harvey’s Rt. 17 Paramus? That’s where I believe I bought a Tandberg TR2080 new a couple years after that picture to upgrade from the Hitachi. Beauty! Sold it to a collector in Norway a few years back as it was getting a bit old in the tooth but alw...
What did your system look like 30 years ago? Hmm well they were my roommates and a long time ago. Don’t really know.I think they were there for decorative purposes. We were not so much ahead of our time quite honestly to call them "resonators" but why not?
Speaker sensitivity vs SQ Speakers alone make no sound. Complete systems do. Need to examine the complete system before any meaningful comparison can be made.My understanding is MC prefers high efficiency speakers because they tend to be easier to drive and will work well ...
Anyone ever try to toe-out? Plia?I do it with my Ohm Walsh on occasion but those are unique.
What did your system look like 30 years ago? I saw some new model turntable with similar little touch sensor buttons like the old Philips 312. Don’t remember the model. Anyone know?
Ohm Walsh F Hope of Resurrection @asvjerry maybe I would take you up on that someday. Would love to hear what you’ve come up with. The system pic looks way cool! Ever thought about selling a pair? I bet it would generate some interest.
Uneven soundstage help, please. IF all is the same and only difference is the speakers used, dispersion pattern differences between the old and current speakers would most likely account for differences.First though I would switch left and right channels to see if that reverses ...
Ohm Walsh F Hope of Resurrection I for one would be very interested in the full pro review of how these specific restored Fs sound and compare to the modern competition, if the thought is that this kind of restore was worthwhile. Others who have actually heard fully functional Fs...
Bigger drivers = bigger soundstage My speakers use a 12" driver, have 360 degree dispersion, a wall to wall soundstage, and can be tuned to any room large or small. They are special! Just saying.
A deeper more holographic soundstage. The setups I have heard that do it well tend to have very low distortion throughout. The speakers have very wide and balanced sound dispersion and are located accordingly with proper geometry to the listening position and distance from walls to av...
Ohm Walsh F Hope of Resurrection @douglas_schroeder I think we are getting into the very subjective areas of hifi here in other words different flavors all of which can be enjoyable as opposed to any inherent superior approach. No one has all the “advantages”. Personally I do see...
Class D I hooked my $80 Fosi integrated amp (with Bluetooth) to a pair of kef ls50s and have been frankly flabbergasted how good it sounds. I have heard some highly regarded “audiophile” amps totally strike out with those. Just saying. Can’t go wrong f...
What did your system look like 30 years ago? Ahh yea MC how did I forget to list those? Resonators....good description! We resonated quite a bit in those days. Hifi pioneers ... over the next hill we’d be home.
Ohm Walsh F Hope of Resurrection I think I read on the Ohm website or somewhere that redoing the material inside the cone was one of the major barriers faced in properly restoring the Fs and a key reason why Ohm abandoned that. The original F Walsh driver was a finely tuned devic... |
