Need speaker suggestions
I'd say if you like the Vandersteens, why not give them a try. Pick up a second hand pair on ebay or audiogon. If they don't work out, you could sell what you have and try another enhancement from there. Keep swapping stuff in and out within your ...
Need ideas for replacing a Tandberg receiver.
Although solid state, the Tandberg does have a very warm, almost tube like quality compared to most other vintage receivers. Maybe that explains it's affinity with the Triangle Titus's.
Need ideas for replacing a Tandberg receiver.
Rar1,Thanks for the info on the Outlaw.I worked at the TEch 1980 Hifi in New Brunswick, NJ while attending Rutgers circa 1978-80. That store sold mostly refurbished units. I almost spent a summer in the Village and had thoughts of trying to get in...
Need ideas for replacing a Tandberg receiver.
Rar1, I think your comment about accuracy of modern speakers is largely true, with perhaps a few exceptions. I used to sell both TAndberg and Marantz (and most other popular receivers of the late 1970s) working at TEch Hifi in the NYC area. I like...
Need ideas for replacing a Tandberg receiver.
Thanks Rich. THis looks like a viable option for repairing the Tandberg.Your posted description of your systems suggests you like a sound similar to what I've described with the Tandberg. I'm wondering if you've ever heard this or other Tandberg r...

Why so expensive??
"Any product/service is worth what someone is willing to pay for it."Yep. Everyone has their own concept of "value" and "worth".Of course, good marketing doesn't hurt to boost perceptions of "worth" either!
Why so expensive??
Hey, like any luxury item, if you got the bucks and having the best floats your boat, and everyone's happy in the end (particularly the vendor) why not?Personally, I'd rather go for value and donate the savings to charity or use it for other good ...
Best Value Speaker Model for the Buck?
Well, the best values, regardless of brand/model, are of course had by carefully shopping the online venues like audiogon and ebay for quality components from over the years that are in good working order. Also, buying direct from the manufacturer ...
Anyone Hear New Ohm Walsh MKIII driver upgrades?
I have f-5 S3's and Walsh 2 S3's. I recommend both highly as very high sonic quality per $. The f-5 are simply out of this world...no comparison. No conventional design can compare. Maybe German Physic Walsh's, high end maggies or high end electro...
Ohm Speakers, thoughts?
I recently acquired a pair of Ohm f-5, series 3 loudspeakers from Ohm. These were very reasonably priced by Ohm, especially with trade-in. As such, I decided to try them. These are the latest Walsh 5 Series 3 drivers that have been available for ju...
