Von Schweikert VR2 vs. Totem Arro
Also consider OHM micro Walsh Tall. The largely omni design lends itself well to less than ideal placement within roomsCheck this agon thread for a wealth of info on Totem Arro versus OHM MWT specifically.http://forum.audiogon.com/cgi-bin/fr.pl?cs...
What to do with bad recorded CDs
I have some CDs that sound better than others, but very few that sound bad (<10%).I strongly believe that the % of CDs that sound "good" on a system is a useful measure of overall system quality. If a lot of CDs do not sound good on a system,th...
Linn LP-12 still competitive with the very best?
Chayro,The fact that the Linn has been a highly regarded standard fore so long is in itself a valuable reason to own one before owning something else, as you point out.I've never owned an LP12 but the Axis is as easy to set up and requires as litt...
Linn LP-12 still competitive with the very best?
It seems that the Linns are just not cool or trendy anymore.Since I put the Denon 103R cartridge on mine (Linn Axis actually) though, it sounds better than ever to me and I have not felt a need to change when I listen to other newer tables on othe...
What to do with bad recorded CDs
Can you tell us some examples of CDs you have listened to that do not sound good that we might be familiar with?
Center Channel for Titus XS
How about a largely omni-directional Ohm Micro walsh short? Might cost just a tad more than $300 though.I use Triangle Titus 202s in my 2 channel A/V system. If I went to multi-channel the little OHM MicroWalshes configured for wall mounting in ho...
Bruce at The Super Bowl....
"how can anyone imagine that Springsteen and Dylan can be compared? Why would you want to? When I think Dylan I think folk music icon and when I think Springsteen I think radio personality. apples and oranges IMO"I agree totally. We do it because i...
MOODY BLUES CD'S
December is the one Moodies album I don't have.I need to get it.....I sold a lot of stereo systems at Lafayette Radio years ago playing Octave on vinyl on various systems when it originally came out. Octave was well recorded as well and had a coll...
Ohm Walsh Micro Talls: who's actually heard 'em?
Oh, Rebbe, be sure to include something with some well recorded pipe organ in the shootout. When all else fails, the low notes on a big pipe organ will really serve to separate the men from the boys!
Ohm Walsh Micro Talls: who's actually heard 'em?
I'm curious as well. I've never heard MWTs and this should be the most informative comparison that I know of.I anticipate the 100s will deliver a sound that is essentially similar but has more authority and meat on the bones, like other much large...
First Trip outside of Best Buy, a real newbie.
Poorly driven speakers that sound good loud most likely will not "suck" at lower volumes, but bass levels may suffer resulting in a less satisfying presentation at lower volumes.I went from a 360/W channel relatively low current amp to my current ...
The best "imaging" speakers?
Audiophiles want it all and we want it now!
First Trip outside of Best Buy, a real newbie.
I think the Nova would certainly work well with the Maggies.
First Trip outside of Best Buy, a real newbie.
Ironically, some speakers require more efficient amps that deliver more current to sound right at lower volumes. If the amp can do that and can deliver enough current (not same as watts), and the speakers can also handle high volumes without break...
Anyone here using vintage speakers?
Bondmanp,What brand of vintage speaks from Tech HiFi? You didn't say.The best I remember at Tech HiFi to be had for that price on sale might be Ohm E's? I sold dozens of them back in the day.Or could be EPIs or smaller Infinitys or Advents maybe?
