McIntosh fuse changeout to make better sound
If you are reading this thread and new here make sure you also visit other forums just to realize how crazy some of this stuff is here and the zealotry which surrounds it by the proponents of psuedo science. Of course real tweaks do real things an...
Does Power Cord Require Burn-In To Sound Good?
Well what I think is that burn in is not enough. I put a heat strip around my power cables to maintain a minimum of 150 degrees F. If you do not do this the burn in reverts to unburn in and then you are back to square one. If you ever let your pow...
Are Shakti Stones effective?
Yes beyond any doubt and proven by my personal experience. If you take one of these and face the top side down and hurl it just right I have found I get more skips across the pond than any other stone I have used. I think the electronics help stab...
Are Shakti Stones effective?
Today's winner of the "Audio Onion" is the OP.  A fool and his money are soon parted is the real life corollary to this.
Millercarbon's Mega Vibration Control Journey
I use machined depleted Uranium cone vibration dampeners with 98 durometer virgin polyurethane vibration absorbers. These rest on 4" thick Italian marble slabs which themselves have an additional set of the above mentioned. It is not just the indu...
Are cable recommendations worth anything?
12g zip cord and keep the money in your pocket. On the other hand if someone insists maybe I can cook something up and apply lots of flowery words and a big price tag and since you will spend lots of money that alone means it is superior.
The conclusion I've reached about speakers
Just remarkable how Kenjit pushes his Pavlov’s Dogs button and like magic there they are bemoaning his existence again! Kenlit has fun and the frothing begins and I have to admit I am amused too. The "Audio Onion" strikes again.  Is there such a t...
What's the best and/or favorite piece of equipment you've owned? And do you still own it?
My favorite is my current two way system. A Klipsch K-402 horn with an 1132 driver on top of a self built bass bin derived from the Klipsch MCM 1900 MWM bass bin but built with a 108" throat. A single fold horn and it goes down to 27hz before it s...
What's your definition of an audiophile?
Heh heh," "Your system sounds like crap" See, I'm an audiophile! "  Followed by I spent a gob of cash on gear which qualifies me as an equipment audiophile aristo and I also spent $200 to buy a hires album (that is not one in reality)  so you pl...
Audiophile circuit breakers ?
I seriously find this silly. Now you stick a breaker in there but leave the main panel breaker in place. Does logic not enter into the equation here? Cryo'ed breakers here and cable cookers there so who is right? Lots of people looking for your mo...
What's your definition of an audiophile?
" Alan Parsons cynically said "Audiophiles don’t use their equipment to listen to music. Audiophiles use your music to listen to their equipment”. Let me hear your definition " The better your system gets the harder it is to find really good music...
Have speakers really improved within the last 20 years??
Say's the guy who does not own a speaker nor have a system posted. On the other hand we now have another chapter of Audiogone's (I mean really gone) version of The Onion to entertain us for a bit. I love the "take this seriously" responses the most.
I'm never going to hear a megaspeaker in a good room am I?
I like updates from Audiogon but most of the time pass them by anymore. However this one caught my eye and I have to say I find the audio worlds equivalent of  "The Onion" as entertainment does not disappoint.   Personally I think unless you have ...
The most criminal practice in the speaker industry revealed!! Keep reading
Love your posts Kenjit and watching all the outrage that ensues.  Perhaps you could get around to speaker cables and beeswax filled fuses some day. There is just so much fertile soil here the mind boggles at the possibilities.
Should people who can't solder, build or test their speakers be considered audiophiles?
Mahlman was never on the remote controlled plane. He did enjoy the remote cameras though.  See you in a while.
