Effect of Internet Service Quality on Streaming?
It is hard thing to A/B test.  I am not about to rip out my cabling that runs in walls and drop ceilings and replace it with newer digital cables and then go back again, and even expect that an aural memory from one listen to another is reliable. ...
A Tale for Your Bemusement
It’s unfortunate but I could have predicted that Sony wasn’t going to give adequate support to a machine of that vintage.  Too bad you wasted your time reloading the music.  Time to buy a server to load the discs that you can back up and then use ...
Upgrade from BluNode 2i with a new DAC or Integrated Streamer DAC?
Even if you have some inevitable hearing impairment at age 77 you still will appreciate upgrades in both streamer and DAC.
Ethernet cables
My attitude towards cables, particularly digital ones, is to go one step up from the basement, but not to go into the stratosphere
Anyone Classical Music familiar with IDAGIO.net
I never used Presto paid service.  I used their free service, where you could stream the purchases that you had made on them, and I loved it, but then when they introduced their paid service the free service didn’t work anymore
Company headquarters and warranty repairs
A lot of upgrades are software and can be done over the internet or via a flash drive
Music through streamer vs CD/SACD
They should complement each other.  My DSD recordings from SACD are the best sounding in my collection but red book and streaming can also sound excellent.  Not all music is available on SACD and the future of the format isn’t bright
Anyone Classical Music familiar with IDAGIO.net
I used it for a few months but it had some technical issues that I just couldn’t solve, despite their responsive CS, so I dropped it since my wife wanted us to stay with Apple Music.  I wish them luck
Sound Quality of Cables Used With Bluesound Node
My DAC sounds the same across all inputs.  When I had the Node the optical was the best sounding output
Buying a remastered recording from radio: LP or CD?
CDs are less durable than LPs?  I’ve accidentally driven my car over CDs that then were fine after a clean up with soap and water.  Try that with an lp.   If durability is the issue than buy a CD and immediately back it up to a hard drive.  You c...
DAC streamers: Bryston v. HiFi Rose video
I am guessing not, since I used to own the BDP3, and it had no visual capabilities. My impression is that the Bryston combination unit is just the DAC and streamer under one casework with no new added functionality. You should be able to contact B...
FYI - QOBUZ SERVICES WILL BE TEMPORARILY UNAVAILABLE
They had an outage recently.  Were they hacked?  Are they doing something to try to prevent this and thus the maintenance now?
Are your record surfaces as silent as CDs?
If you can’t tolerate surface noise, then analog will be a frustrating experience.  It is interesting how effective cleaning and different types of gear will minimize it
LP to CD
I had digitalized a few LPs using a ProJect usb phono preamp and a MacBook.  I used free Audacity software but Band Camp will also work.   There shouldn’t be a copyright issue as long as the OP is only going to use the digitalized version for per...
Eric Carmen
I listen primarily to Classical, and of course two of his biggest hits were lifted straight out of Rachmaninov pieces, so I just kind of had him pegged as some plagiarizing low life.  Later he became a meme between my wife and I, because if one of...
