Streaming an aid to enjoyment I have the opposite experience from the OP. Most of my “streamed” music is my CD collection burned to Melco, and the difference in SQ is negligible. When I listen to Qobuz, I find myself fretting over the slight decrement in SQ, when it is a fam...
Blue sound vault2i OPMelco N100 has same functionality as Bluesound Vault2. It does require Ethernet. It costs the same as a Vault2 and sounds about twice as good. It has attached 2TB HD, same as Vault2. Melco sells a ripper, which can also be used as a CD Trans...
CD player suggestions under $700 Schiit Audio makes sum well regarded DACs that would be under $700
CD player suggestions under $700 OP I know that you asked for a CD player recommendation but have you considered getting a DAC? If you prefer your CDs to Bluesound Node it may be the limiting factor is the DAC in the Node. It may be that if you use your current player as a tran...
Looking for a cd player that plays nice with classical orchestra. Never heard a Hegel, but yes, it gets pretty good reviews. What is the “part shortage”? Is it the DAC chip? The chip manufacturer AKM lost their factory in a fire. My Bryston DAC recommendation and their CD players would be affected here as we...
Is Innuos Zenith or Statement Overkill with a High-End Streaming DAC? I think that you are right on the money. The bigger determinant of the sound is the DAC. Transports matter, but you can get superb DACs in the 5-15 K range. Why spend all that dosh on storage if you have determined that streaming is your future?
Melco E100/N 100 Combination The dealer is here in Agon. He seems like a real nice stand up guy. Since I am not being critical I will mention his name-Anthony Perotta
Got a Node 2i, what's next? Listening is subjective, but I couldn’t disagree more with the OP statement that the Node sounds like it’s out of the 1990s, not if it’s paired with a decent DAC. I have one in an HT system that I paired with an old PSAudio DigitalLink 3, vintag...
MQA is for chumps I love SACD. I didn’t perceive any consistent difference with MQA. What does ANA stand for? In my world it’s Anti Nuclear Antibody
Got a Node 2i, what's next? Sorry, the last parentheses should be “any other transport than the node 2).
Got a Node 2i, what's next? The OP refers to DACs as a “secondary “ source. Transports matter, but the DAC imo is much more important. Think of it like a gourmet restaurant. You have a great chef (DAC). The chef has two helpers to purchase the ingredients. One goes to W...
Looking for a cd player that plays nice with classical orchestra. My Bryston DAC3 gives me a mid concert hall experience, and the 4 HDMI inputs are nice because it can take the DSD feed from SACDs
Brighter sound then Bryston DAC I love my DAC3. It sounds plenty “alive “ to me but source matters. I also had a Mytek Manhattan I which sounded more in your face and ultimately I found fatiguing. However, both Bryston, which relies on now vanished AKM chips, and Mytek, which...
MQA is for chumps Thanks for posting that, fuzztone
Blue sound vault2i Melco. For the same money the same amount of HD and real quality NAS. You need to supply your own CD ripper/Optical drive |
