Need help choosing a new CD Player
Come on, people, the OP stated he doesn't want a dac-transport, or a streamer, but a good old fashioned CD player.  Sony, Marantz, Yamaha, NAD, Rega all make players in the $1k range.  Suggest you find a dealer who sells and see if you can do a ho...
In Classical music the effect of SQ on appreciation
It matters quite a bit but I'm not averse to historical recordings.  I recently bought a HD with all of Pristine Audio's offerings on it and it's fascinating to explore.  In general these artists hailed from a time when the origins of the music we...
Fear and Loathing in the Audiophile community. Funny and real
I love the picture of the middle aged guy hunching over his keyboard in the stalking position.  That could be a composite picture for many of us here
The Audiophile's Wife no longer putting it out?
I was captured but the "putting it out" titler of the thread and it's connotation, but now I'm interested in reading the blog.  IS there a link?  I seem to have missed it if there was
Distinctly Different Upgrades. Surprisingly Similar Musical Outcomes?
When we change something, we can hear a different sound.  We hear stuff on recordings that we may not have noticed before.  Sometimes we may lose something in the process, sometimes not
Why do my bass drivers shake violently listening to vinyl
Glad the OP solved the problem.  I ditched my analog outfit years ago but before I did I had a hum that resisted multiple approaches to eliminate until I bought a "hum buster" or some such thing that apparently isolated the hum and turned it into ...
Choosing and buying headphones
Meze Audio makes good headphones in the sub $1k range that are comfortable to wear.
Distinctly Different Upgrades. Surprisingly Similar Musical Outcomes?
Not really understanding the question here.  This could be because I am home with Covid and a dull headache is making it difficult to concentrate.  I think you are trying to say that certain audio enhancements tend to emphasize stuff around the ma...
pre-amp processor
I have two Anthem MX 520 AVRs.  The ARC really helps the sq.  The Anthem processors have superior parts compared to the AVRs and sound better still.
Moving the beloved gear
If you can possibly move the gear yourself, do it.
CD Transport or media server/streamer
Since your Krell has digital inputs, as others have indicated you can still use it as a DAC.  It will probably sound like it always did with a decent transport, say Cambridge Audio or Project, for under a grand.  If you go the Bluesound Vault rout...
OK-- I think I get it, now...
I met my wife about 20 years ago, via an online dating source that catered to Classical Music listeners, now out of business.  When the relationship blossomed and I began spending time at her place her "system" consisted of an ancient Pioneer rece...
RIP oregonpapa
I really liked his posts.  R.I.P.
Beautiful Music That Reduce You To Tears
My two current tear inducers are "Didio's Lament" from Purcells Dido&Aeneas and The Kings Noise version of Barbara Allen.  The Hymm of Thanksgiving from one of the late Beethoven String Quartets usually works as well, as well as the slow mov...
Is Pretty Good Good Enough? Listening Habits In The World Of Streaming Services.
I have Qobuz and it's pretty good SQ, but definitely a notch behind my CDs either ripped or played from a transport.  It is mainly useful for exploring new recordings or mobile listening (my car or being out of town).  I've taken a new job that dr...
