The Law of Accelerating Returns
Having read the editorial, I am not sure what the point is.  It seems to be arguing simultaneously that smallish upgrades may unlock the Pandora box of beauty previously concealed, and also that one shouldn’t hesitate making an huge upgrade to one...
Moved countries, help me get a new stereo system
Do you have any brick and mortar stores where you live where you may audition?
What are Home theater must-haves?
Agree with everything here.  Also, will it primarily be used for video, or how much does music fit in.
Return of The Mac?
I had this problem and it turned out to be a faulty center channel cable.  However it it is more than one system in this case so the common denominator has to be the cable box, but the OP has done a lot on that end.  More information might help.  ...
Should I turn my CD player off when I am finished for the day
I think the question the here is whether the laser is still reading the non playing disc, and if that will therefore decrease the laser life.  This is a non trivial issue.  Lasers can be replaced but it isn’t easy.  Many threads here are about rep...
High quality CDs
The great thing about getting to a happy place with your system, at least digital replay, is that it is a rare CD that sounds bad.  As digital matures, more information than we ever thought possible gets pulled out of those pits.  I recently rando...
Airplay
I use AirPlay, Chromecast, and Bluetooth.  Having said that, I prefer good old conventional wired connections, but I could easily live with Chromecast as a sole source.  AirPlay is also very acceptable, just a slight drop off from Redbook CD. Blue...
High quality CDs
OP   Regarding “so many choices”…the Classical Market used to be dominated by 3 or 4 “Major” labels—Columbia, RCA, EMI, DG,Phillips and Mercury-and their dominance was gradually broken up by budget and independent labels.  The CD era really faci...
High quality CDs
I listen exclusively to Classical.  Where are you getting your CDs from?  Maybe your system needs revamping.   Anyway, Classical Labels that are especially known for good Sonics are, inno particular order:  BIS, Reference Recordings, Decca, MDG, ...
Streamer Apps...how important?
I am not sure that I understand the question.  The App is there to help you find what you want to listen to.  The App itself won’t influence sound quality.  As others have mentioned, playing the music via Bluetooth will adversely impact sound qual...
Do you spend more time analyzing the sound of your system, worrying it could be better?
@hilde45 1+   I suspect a lot of people who answered no aren’t being truthful and have the constant desire to wish to upgrade.  I am currently in a good place, but I know that to improve my current set up I would need to ascend to a whole new pr...
I am so happy.....
I have fed the LG 60 directly in my pre amp as well and it is a quality DAC.  Of course it’s hard to actually use the phone while being tethered, and as good as the DAC in the LG is it doesn’t compare to my regular DAC.   My bigger issue with the...
Interest in 2-channel/stereo audio and prices here and other sites
@dgluke   Good luck with that one. I built systems for my kids only to discover they were happy listening to the speakers on their phones.  After a few years one of them went all Hi FI on me with an $89 soundbar.   Regarding the OP the multic...
Aurender Conductor latest fail…
Cleeds   Glad that you are enjoying the Bryston BDP3.  My experience with it was terrible.  And talk about a shortage of techs-Bryston had one guy responsible for troubleshooting their digital products and for writing the code to the dreaded Man...
Sometimes you have to change you
I used to think my system sounded different at different times but then realized it’s me
