VPI Classic 3 IDLE drive
The small pully is for a 600 rpm motor. The larger pully is for a 300 rpm motor. It looks like the current model now has a 300 rpm motor. You cannot use a belt and have the pully touch the platter. They travel is in different directions.
VPI Scout setup after watching Frefmer's video
I use the anti-skate device with one rubber ring as I decided not to twist the Valhalla wire. I hear the difference when it is not adjusted properly. The third post answers your question on disabling AS when using the wire twist method. 01-11-13: ...
Calling all Panzerholz Aficionados
I cut component top weights to reduce resonance for my monitors, DAC etc. Jointed the bottom flat, beveled the edges, light sanding with a Danish Oil finish.
Don't use this to lube your VPI Classic bearing
I tried several greases and oils in the past few years. Saw this at a local bike store and found it to be the best thus far ...Ceramic Grease
Tracking force and Unipivot tonearms
From my experience, there is a big difference in optimization ease between the 9” standard and signature tonearms regardless of whether “you know what you are doing” or are still learning. The non-signature tonearm does not have the set screw in t...
Tracking force and Unipivot tonearms
If you have the standard 9" tonearm, I would suggest getting Soundsmith's Counter “Intuitive” as this will decouple the azimuth and VTF adjustments. The 9" signature tonearm has a set screw in the end of the armwand to allow you to fine tune the V...

VPI Rim Drive vibrations

VPI Rim Drive vibrations
I had updated my plinth feet to TT Weights brass Soundpoints before adding a single motor rim drive flywheel so never heard of this issue before. In order to help seat your belt in the flywheel track, place a round toothpick or other small diameter...
LP care
I use a 6L ultrasonic cleaner with about 1/2 oz of Disc Doctor cleaner added to the distilled water bath. The LP is (manually at this time) rotated slowly (1/8 intervals) for about five (5) minutes. I then vacuum the fluid off (VPI 16.5) and follo...
Kleos Sibilance
Debugging TT configurations remotely is difficult at best. As mentioned, the post was a response to your “unquoted” statement in the post’s body, nothing more.As for the sibilance issue, if you still have the VPI and decide to have another go at i...
Kleos Sibilance
This was a post more in response to text from 01-11-11: Robob. I also checked the Kleos as this is what I was planning on trying once I completed my project to replace my Scout plinth. I wouldn't buy any cartridge without first checking this calcu...
