Latest Peter Gabriel
Anyone who's heard this disc care to compare it to "Us". Since that's the last Peter Gabriel disc I bought, you'll know I'm not a huge fan, either. I would like to hear something new though, and I do like 1/2 of "Us" quite a bit (Steam, Digging in...
Any opinions on NAD quality?
Jdh9,I can't speak to the newer NAD stuff, but like the rest of the posters here, I've owned older NAD gear for nearly 15 years. My 3155 integrated still does duty every weekend when we watch movies. I'd not hesitate to buy NAD gear.
Instructions to electrician about dedicated line
Sean,My comments were strictly regarding CODE requirements. The NEC only considers heat generation withing a cable when specifying its ampacity (current carrying ability). Many electrical engineers make their living sizing cable to carry power to ...
Circuit Breaker for Dedicated Lines
Ozfly,The National Electricl Code (NEC) can be found on the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) website under NFPA 70.
Instructions to electrician about dedicated line
The answer to the, "Why 15A or 20A circuits" is really a code question. The smallest wiring allowed by the NEC for a power circuit in a residence is 14 gauge with 12 gauge being common. Since a 14 gauge wire will carry 15A, it's typical to install...
Questions - returning to analog
Tim,I'll 3rd Basement's recommendation. I really like my HW-19 Jr. Vinyl is a second source for me, but I bought the 19 because it is upgradeable. While I don't think I'll ever want vinyl playback to progress to the TNT, Master Reference or Simon ...
Okay, now I think I've seen it all...
Now that I've seen what's possible, I want them to build Kemp's towers with telescoping cabinets so that the speakers can be folded donw like an old fashioned top hat. Imagine the WAF of a speaker she didn't have to look at when I wasn't listening...
Innaugural DVD
My vote would go to "The Matrix". However, "Seven Years in Tibet" is also stunning on DVD. Not a special effects wonderland, but the photography is great.
Best SS 200 wpc amps
I'd like to second Trich727's recomendation of the Threshold amps. I have an S/500 II and a pair of SA-1s and love them to death. I haven't heard Pass' latest efforts, but they must be good to be selling so well when the stuff he built 15 years ag...
Alignment Protractors
The first TT I set up I did by ear. I finally bought the MFSL Geodisc and heard an improvement right away. So to answer JC2000's question, any alignment tool is better than none. Howeve, I'd be interested to hear if any of you have experiences wit...
Wedding Music - Recommendations for Program
I used to tease my wife that I wanted "Black Dog" by the mighty Zeppelin played at our reception.
RB300 maintainance...
Marakanetz,Perhaps it's more a problem of geometry than maintenance. Remember that with a pivoted arm, as opposed to a linear tracking arm, you only have perfect geometry at two points on the record. All other points are compromises. Perhaps with ...
What companies, out of Business, did you LOVE???
Two channel also: Apogee and Threshold, both of which are in my house.
OK to use a 4 or 5 Channel amp to bi-amp?
Atzen,There have been several threads recently about bi-amping. For active bi-amping you will need an external crossover. As Mdomnick says above, you can use the crossovers installed in your Missions and passively bi-amp. Connect your preamp to yo...
Sellers adding for PayPal use is plainly BS
Look at it this way, PayPal fees are just a cost of doing business, like shipping. The advertisment that states that the Seller is picking up the tab for shipping is pretty rare. Adding the PayPal fee is just another cost of ownership. Besides, if...
