Which songs/albums take you back to college? Somehow I forgot, all of the Beatles Albums. Even though it was 20 yrs later, everyone had, and listened to Beatles albums. Ironically, this week I met my nephew in Austin at the typical college house they live in, and spilling out of his speakers...
Turntable/Subwoofer Ground loop Tonywinsc, I think you may be right. I isolated the phono cable and most of the hum went away, I need to try inverting the phase of the turntable. Good advice, thanks.
Bryston BDA-1 Looking at your gear there is no way this should sound bright at all. Your gear tends towards a very nice, clear sound with just a touch of warmth. Very nice set up. As a point of reference my system tends toward brightness, so I always look for w...

Bryston BDA-1 I think this is the warmest, most well rounded DAC I have owned, and I have had a bunch of them (7) in the last year.I don't believe that there is any breakin period for a DAC, what would need to break in?It may just not be a match with your other...
Balanced preamp tube for Magnepan 3.6 or 20.1 ARC Ref 3 or Cary SLP05, both will work extremely well. Giving you a very open soundstage and excellent bass. I think that Cary is slightly warmer than the ARC. I have never heard the BAT's or VTL's. I have the 3.6R's and have tried both the 501's...
PS Audio Perfectwave Compared to High End Players I always think of warmer as there being little to no hard glare to the music. It may be a bit more coloration actually, and less clarity, but it sounds fuller, and more analog.Tubes and High efficiency speakers = warmer: Solid State and electrosta...
PS Audio Perfectwave Compared to High End Players I have not had the Perfectwave in my system, but I remember it from CES being absolutely stellar. In fact I walked out of the Vandersteen demo, and the PS Audio room was the next one I actually listened in, and it made a huge impression. That's a ...

Where are you buying new vinyl? DavidSSS, another good reason to visit the coolest (metaphorically speaking) place on earth; Australia. Melbourne here I come!!!
Output impedence for Cary slp98 Cool, I never knew that, excellent information.thx.
Can You Live With Crackling & Popping Noise? I 100% disagree with Avrij. After years of what I thought were glorious and fully realized digital playback systems, including SACD, I found that relatively inexpensive turntables blow away digital. Much fuller, richer sound.
Can You Live With Crackling & Popping Noise? When I first play new records I don't clean them as most companies suggest. I just use my Audioquest brush to get the lint off of the surface. I am always shocked at how quiet the records are. No pops, no crackle, no hum. After a few playing they ...
