Moving from CD Player to MAC Book Pro Music Server It's not the cheapest solution, but I have a Drobo for back up and it let's me sleep at night. After having many a back-up external drive fail, I settled on the Drobo, and it blows away the RAID array it replaced as far as ease of use. Oh yeah, an...
Buy new TV now or wait for 3D technology? I have put 4 of those Samsung TV's in friends houses, and they are stellar, never seen any of the 'Halo' effect we heard of. We actually paid to have the setting done by a pro on one of them, and it was worth the $300 he charged. They have come so...
To mod or not to mod, dac is the question The Civic/Ferrari analogy is not a great one, unless you are starting out with very inferior gear. Say a no name DVD player. Let's get closer to your Oppo-Mod with a car analogy.Any Ferrari is a great car, but just as a car, it's not 400% better i...
Rolling Stone top 100 Guitarists - Howe/Van Halen My true Stevie Ray Vaughn story. My first visit to Austin, TX was in 1983. A huge group of us were walking down 6th street about 6pm which is really early to be out on a Saturday night, it was a typical beautiful November (or late October) night an...
Rolling Stone top 100 Guitarists - Howe/Van Halen Chashmal, I am 100% with you, but I didn't have the stones to say it first. I can't think of any Cream/Clapton songs where the guitar gives me a charge. Nothing like say Stevie Ray Vaughn playing "Pride and Joy", Tony Immomi playing "Paranoid", Ji...

Richards is a great guitarist, and a great songwriter. EVH is not in the same league as a songwriter. That said, this is not a list of songwr...
Rolling Stone top 100 Guitarists - Howe/Van Halen I would appreciate opinions from some guitarists out there. Come on, on this site with half of the systems and gear for sale in California, Tennessee and New York, I am guessing there are many, many musicians on these forum. I sure some we have ac...

Warm-up I never have heard this before, but it actually makes a lot of sense. Excellent point.
High power amp reccomendations, airy highs a must I just noticed you have listed your speakers, I would second the McIntosh recommendation above with those speakers, and the rest of your gear. You will get a ton of SLAM from that combo.
Most beneficial change . If I had a small room the only speakers I would use would be Quads, they are amazing in a small space where you don't need to generate huge SPL's.
Most beneficial change . in that room, very cool btw, I would start with new speakers. How about some Quad's? ESL 57's(rebuilds or the new German made models), or 989's. Then build your system around them Perfect space for them. Add a small sub (Velodyne DD10 or Rel B3) a... |
