Nottingham Spacedeck or Pro-ject 9.1?
The point of Davt's response is that the base either turntable sits on HUGELY effects the sound, which is why hey suggests the Pro-ject 10.1 for comparison.I like the Spacedeck better too, but with the caveat that I have not heard the 9.1 sitting ...

try to find some Paradigm Active 20's, plenty of bass, and you don't need an amp then.
Vacuum Tube Chess Set

S-R-WoTen, I know, I love MFSL stuff and that is a great album. I'm not happy about it, I should have returned it when I first got it, but didn't get around to it then.Too late now.

What is the best sounding CD Changer.
I had one of the Sony ES 400 disc changers and it sounded passable, and it played SACD's (which sound pretty darn good actually), I asked a couple of the modding shops about upgrades, and they were very eager to do it, but I thought it could be pu...

How does the Bryston BDA-1 DAC sound?
I thought the Berkeley was a little bit better overall, slightly clearer highs, but was no where near worth the additional $$$

Moving from the Magnepan 3.6 to the 20.1
you know, the thing about the Cary's is that they don't come for sale very often. So if you buy them, then don't like them, the market is very good for them, and I doubt you will even be out the shipping. I know I could sell mine for more than I p...

Moving from the Magnepan 3.6 to the 20.1
I would pick up a new amp first, before you buy the 20.1's, you will need it to dry the 20.1's anyway. Many amps would be upgrades: the Cary's you mention which I have and love, Parasound Halo JC-1's (great), varios Sanders Sound (or older Innersou...
What vintage Technics tables are best?
the usual suspects are the SP-10 MKII, or if possible, the very rare SP-10 MKIII(supposedly the ultimate Dir Drive TT). Either with the arm of your choice, but there are many who love the 100 series arm that came with the MKII
Please...Advice For The Speakerly Challenged
the 3.6r are definitely a level above the 1.7's, deeper and more solid base, and more coherent. I think the top ends are about equal, the 1.7's are really speacial. Both need HUGE power to sound their best. But they are not for everyone, I undersa...
