Who needs a MM cartridge type when we have MC?
Since there is some question as to why the EPC100mk4 isn't easily repaired here is the relevant info as explained in an email from AJ Van den Hul himself regarding my own. "It is not the screw at the front and also not the small one in the tube of...
Who needs a MM cartridge type when we have MC?
Frogman, I found an obvious improvement with the empire by increasing vta and lightening up on tracking force. I increased VTA by several millimeters which made the tonearm far from parallel to the record surface and I believe I'm a touch under 1g...
Reel to Reel decks
I hope it's not too self promoting, but there is also an Otari for sale on Audiogon...
Who needs a MM cartridge type when we have MC?
Thank you both! One fun thing is the sh-90s headshell that was included. It's meant for p-mount cartridges and has a similar build quality and constuction as the integrated headshells I've seen on the 205C Mk3 and EPC-100c. It doesn't really allow...
Who needs a MM cartridge type when we have MC?
Yes I bought it. It's on it's way to VdH for repair. Looking forward to its return...
Warmed cleaning fluids
Sounds like a great idea to me. Strange that this never occured to me:-). Especially since I've been thinking about the whole steaming idea. No idea whether it would effect the enzymes, but my first thought is that it would help speed up their act...
Best Interface Between Vibraplane and Maple Board
Funny, I'm actually waiting on UPS to deliver some Isodamp today. I bought it from Michael Percy at www.percyaudio.com and he was helpful suggesting which size(thickness) to get etc. The model is C-1002. I'm going to give it a shot between the ste...
Does anyone have the new VAC Phi 300 amplifier?
I don't know Tvad, but I'm glad you did cuz I've enjoyed the heck out of it since you sold it to me. I think it will arrive Tuesday with the new update. I'm very curious to see what the new design has to offer, but I'll admit I've been a little ne...
Does anyone have the new VAC Phi 300 amplifier?
Just had my Phi 110 modded by Kevin to include the new input and drive circuitry in the syle of the 300 series. It ships back tomorrow, so I don't know how it sounds yet, but Kevin was really happy with it and all the comments above have me eager ...
Shindo and synergistic components
Thanks Hatari. I hope this isn't too much of a diversion, but has anyone had the opportunity to hear the Shindo Richebourg 300B PP amp? I don't belive it's produced anymore, but I've been curious about it for a while and haven't seen much written ...
Shindo and synergistic components
I thought the Corton-Charlemagne was a 25wpc design. Is it being changed?
Austin, TX
We get together once in a while as a group. I've met a couple folks that I now get together more frequently with, including Scott(Soliver), who sort of keeps the big group organized. He has a list of all the people who have contacted him over the ...
Experience with Raul's Essential 3150
I get what your saying - he's definitely implying that it's unique, but I usually cringe when absolute terms like "best" are used. At least he didn't say "the Essential is the best preamp, period." I think Raul would agree that best, from a sound ...
Experience with Raul's Essential 3150
I don't remember Raul ever stating that his preamp is the the best. Maybe I missed that, but "best" is a loaded word. I love tubes, see a lot of live music, and use a VAC Phi 110 with my Essential. IMO, a tube lover can still find lots to like in ...
Has anybody had experience with the Orions?
There is an interesting thread from Lynn Olson on DIYAudio about open baffle speakers that discusses his ideas for a new speaker as well as some of the the other designs out there like the Orion. It's a huge thread but has been intersting reading....
