ARC Ref 1, 2, 3 Preamps
You may want to insert the LS26 between the Ref2 and Ref3, why?, because the LS26 beats the Ref2, (ask any ARC Dealer, it is closer in performance to the Ref 3 than the Ref 2 is)this also eliminates the Ref1.Many asume the LS26 is a continuation o...
Increasing hiss in front right speaker
It wouldn`t hurt to try this, turn it off then take the cover off, let it warm up again(1/2 hr.) with a pencil tap the tubes, if any are microphonic or make a noise through the speaker that tube could be the problem.
Audio Research REF-110 vs. HD-220
Read Robert Reina`s review of the ARC Ref 110 in Stereophile, vol 30 #8, 2007.Tonal accuracy and inner layers of micro detail retreival and dynamic stability is what the 110`s are all about. This review may cost you some cash, it has haunted me sin...

Wow I just got the KAB strobe
Glad you like the KAB but take it a step farther, you are not as perfect as you think you are.You say you say you tweeked it and then played a record. A more accurate way, Put a record on the platter, then put the KAB strobe disk on the record, an...
Audio Research LS26 vs. LS17
I had the LS25MKII, and can say the LS26 is in another class altogether. It`s a fact the LS26 beats the Ref2. You will be much closer to the Ref3. The LS26 IS NOT an upgraded LS25, the LS25 cannot be converted to an LS26, no parts are interchangeb...
How to remove an errant label from surface of LP?
GET RID of IT NOW!Consider the very fine microscopic etchings inside the grooves, warming up that glue will send it ever deeper into those etching`s. Don`t think you will ever able to "rinse" that LP, and make it virgin factory fresh. Do you realy...
vpi scoutmaster versus technics unbiased
Is not the entire platter part of "the direct drive" motor?, Hence, an awful lot of EMI (electro magnetic interference) swimming around that platter, Oh so close to that expensive magnetic cartridge? You decide. One belt, motor on seperate plinth, ...

I had the same problem. Mapleshade makes what they call " Carpet Piercing. Heavyfeet" Replace your speaker spikes with these large, heavy Brass footers with extreamly sharp, long pointed ends.My carpet is very thick with a heavy backing, these foo...
what do i really need 1080p for?
The way it was told to me is that no station in the country is broadcasting in 1080p, and won`t for a few years. So no matter what super duper high resolution TV you get you will only see 720p. If I am wrong I welcome the correction.Your super 108...

Tweaks such as demagnetizers ionizers for lp's
They used to sell a hand held demagnetizer to demagnetize recording tape. Radio Shack sold one for about $10, you passed it over a reel of tape to erase it. I threw mine out long ago. If it demagnetizes why wouldn`t it work over Lp`s same as the s...
Speltz Anti Cable Speaker Cable
Are you saying a double run of Speltz speaker cable from amp to a speaker with only 1 binding post?
VPI - MINI HR-X FOOT UPGRADE FOR SCOUT
I don`t think you can hear any vibration in your Scout, you may be able to feel it. If you are concerned about vibration I urge you to buy a Stethoscope from one of the popular drug stores, should be under $20. You won`t believe all the vibration ...
VPI TT Belts
A question to those above that responded.I tried a nylon thread belt on my super platter/TNT table.I hoped for super stability over the rubber belt but the sound became greatly tilted toward the highs, almost no bass or body, also playing just one...
