Amps that are "forward" I believe Audio Research amps (and pre-amps) are a bit forward, all the ARC amps I have had were, a vocalist is usualy a bit in front of the "plane" of the speakers, towards you. I have gotten used to the sound that way and prefer it.Len W
audio Research REF 110 and KT 120 tubes I also read somewhere that replacing the 6550`s with the KT 120`s upped the power by 20 watts per side. Or maybe 20 watts total. Can anyone confirm that?

Audio Research REF 3 and REF 5 Tweaks I recently re-tubed my ARC monoblocks, the supplier had Svetlana "Winged C" 6550`s which were also "Cryo-ed" 100 hr treatment by Pearl. These tube`s made a great difference in resolution and detail.Wondering if replacing the single 6550 in the Ref...
Question for ARC aficionados Read the ARC VSi60 review in this months (Sept) Stereophile by Robert Reina. He gushes all over the VSi60 saying stuff like "....cut from the same cloth as the Ref 110", and more. He can`t stop drooling over it!

Hi-Fi Tunig Fuses & Parasound A21 I agree with Rodman 99999, also Maggies are known for the ribbon tweeter with outstanding high`s, the fuses gave an obvious improvement with even more resolution way way up in frequency, that was a pleasent supprise.Len W
Hi-Fi Tunig Fuses & Parasound A21 Not Parasound but I have replaced every fuse in my ARC PH7, Ref 3 and ARC Classic (tube) monoblocks with HI-FI tuning fuses. None are ever comming out!I did not put them in all at once. I did them one at a time and moved on to the next. They even ...
ARC PH7 upgrade When you find out, let me know. I am ready to send my PH7 in for the upgrade, some positive feedback would be nice, but would ARC offer an upgrade that did not show an obvious improvement?
ARC PH7 Owners is it worth updating to new 5881 There is a "upgraded" Ph7 for sale now on Audiogon,by a dealer who also describes the difference with the single 5881 tube.ARC has reputaion for outstanding products and I doubt it would put out an upgrade that was worthless.I will send my PH7 in ... |
