How much better is the Krell 400xi compared to the
I agree competely with Luther. I'm currently using Aerial Acoustic 5's and the midrange is to die for. Warm and forward sounding. I think in a year or two after people are done buying and selling the Krell 400xi, people might consider it a classic...
Krell 400xi vs. BAT VK-300x vs. McIntosh MA6900
Whokc, I'm currently using Aerial Acoustic 5's which dont use soft dome tweeters, the mid range is liquid with the Krell 400xi. Mind you I'm using a very good digital front end. I don't think its fair to make such generic comparisons.
A challenge: Reference system from 15yrs ago
Great responses so far...keep em coming...I've often thought if I ever had the room I'd purchase a Krell KSA 250 or Mark Levinson 23 series amplifier just for kicks...
Poster's or Musician photo's available online?
I have, and I can't dig up much. Most of what's out there are postcard sized pictures. Hence why I posted on this forum.
Krell 400xi or Musical Fidelity A5 for ML Summit?
As John Wright (modder of older Ed Meitner gear and soon to be released John Wright gear) once told me. The new Krell stuff is actually very good and passes through everything. Before pulling the trigger on the amp swap I'd consider looking at the...
Floor Standing under $1000 Polk vs Paradigm
The Polk Audio's really are out of Paradigms league. I have listened to both alot. The Polk's really don't have much competition untill you reach the $4k mark and even then its more about preference. I'd be willing to put down some serious money t...
Which Jazz Albums are similar to Kind of Blue
I find it quite funny that I found this thread because I've been asking friends and co-workers for the last two weeks what kinda Jazz out there sounds like Kind of Blue and Dave Brubeck's Take Five. Since reading all the posts listed in this threa...
Best value Bookshelf speaker
James, I really really urge you to at least listen to the Polk Audio's, if you can get past the name and plan on keeping the speakers for awhile I think you'll be suprised at how bad they'll make most of the speakers mentioned in this thread look.
Best value Bookshelf speaker
Polk Audio LSi9. I still regret replacing mine for Totem's. Simply a stunning speaker which would make alot of people on this forum reconsider their idea's of "High End". The Polk's sound ALOT like the Krell Resolution 3's.
McIntosh Intergrated's with Home Theatre By-Pass
What a shame.
Mirage OMD-28
I'd discredit a persons opinion if they only use gear used in the professional market. These types of people are more inclinded to show you how well their gear spec's rather then actually listening to music. I've never heard a nice peice of "indus...
Small Floor Standers
Veroman, have you heard the LSi15's? They're the COMPLETE opposite of what you've described. They're very warm and detailed. I'd actually recommend them for Jazz before Rock. If anything they're main weakness is lower bass.
Which artists' music do you buy without audition
Radiohead, Massive Attack, Janes Addiction.
Monitor Audio RS-6 : What's better under $1500? ?
I've listend to those speakers, and I have to say I was left unimpressed. It was being driven by musical fidelity gear and I thought the Polk Audio LSi15's beat them in many critical areas for my tastes. While the imaging and mid-range were nice, t...
Thom Yorke's new CD
HarrowDown Hill is really growing on me Ben.
