Best amplifier with Sonus Faber Sonetto V
Wow, just came across your inquiry. Allow me to share that I own Sonetto V's and have paired them with Rogue Audio's Cronus Magnum Tube Amp, and loved the sound. However, I have since upgraded to the new Pharaoh II Amp and I am now phenomenally ex...
Rogue Audio Cronus Magnum II or Pharaoh Integrated
I've owned both. Both are great sounding amps, and the CM should have no problem driving the Revels. I have recently traded the CM and purchased the Pharaoh II, and could not be happier, Still a good "tube" sound by rolling RCA Clear Top tubes, bu...
Candidates for best speakers in the $2000-5000 market
I've owned Yamaha NS 1000's, Focal 786's, B&W 703's, Sonus faber Venere 2.5's and now Sonus faber Sonetto V's. I cannot rave enough about my enjoyment, and appreciation of the Sonus faber line, but in the $5,000.00 range, reviewers find it har...
Tube Rolling for Rogue Audio Cronus Magnum 2
Having owned the Cronus Magnum II, and looking to best answer your mids and highs needs, I highly recommend RCA Clear Top NOS. I have rolled many other NOS brands, but to achieve what you want, definitely try the RCA Clear Tops.
Sonus Faber Sonetto III
I agree that they are awesome speakers. I auditioned both the III and the V. Ultimately bought the V's for room size and extended base. You can't go wrong the the III's as SF speakers are very amp matching friendly, and the mids and highs are exce...
Speaker upgrade
I will strongly agree with ghdprentice above. I have owned the Rogue Cronus Magnum II integrated, and currently the Rogue Pharaoh II integrated. All the while I have paired with Sonus faber. Initially the Venere 2.5 and now the Sonetto V speakers....
Rogue pharaoh II or Cronus Magnum III ?
To a large part, yes. However there are many articles you can google to see how power tubes and Solid State Amps control the "tone" of an amp's output.
Rogue pharaoh II or Cronus Magnum III ?
This is a Solid State, Class D Amp at 250 watts - 8 ohms / 400 watts - 4 ohms. it produces strong highs. I should have stated if you like bright highs, matching the Pharaoh 2 with ribbon tweeters will be bright. Just be careful if you are sensitiv...
Rogue pharaoh II or Cronus Magnum III ?
I really wish that people would be specific in these posts. If you've listened to the Pharaoh 1 but not the 2, then you have no right to comment. There's a world of difference between the original and the improved versions of the Pharaoh. I've hea...
WILL IT MAKE A DIFFERENCE?
Similar to "twoleftears" above, I'm surprised that you find the Hegel sound "bright". I'm not in your listening room, nor do I have the listening experience with all your components as a group. You may want to research other issues first such room...
Class D Integrated Amplifier Recommendations.
I can only respond to what I know personally. I haven't heard other Class D Integrated Amps, but I own a Rogue Audio Pharaoh II. I've owned the Sphinx V1 and V2 and then moved up to the Cronus Magnum. Two months ago, I traded up to the Pharaoh II ...
Competitive class D amp suggestions
Not sure what your budget will allow but I've owned the Rogue; Sphinx 2 Cronus Magnum 2 And now the Pharaoh II integrated. Rolled RCA Clear Tops in it and couldn't be happier. 250 watts into 8 Ohms and 400 into 4 Ohms. New Class D Hypex N-core...
The new Rogue pharaoh II slams
I too owned the Cronus Magnum II and rolled it with RCA Clear Tops. I absolutely loved the sound with my Sonus faber Sonetto IV's. Even my brother-in-law with a considerably larger audio investment loved the sound result. But there were a few litt...
Totally overwhelmed (speakers under $5k)
It's very easy for someone to recommend speakers that they own. On the other hand,  you can get into a "Paralysis Analysis" spiral. So first, do a bit of research online to understand the "sound" of each brand you think you could be interested in,...
Can recommend some non-fatigue SMALL bookshelf for near-field listening?
Do yourself a favor and read all the reviews on the Sonus faber Lumina and Lumina II (depending on your size). Non-fatiguing, great sound, unbelievably well reviewed. Reasonable pricing.
