What other hobby...
Owning Harleys. There are infinite ways to customize a bike, lots of time tinkering, and time and money on repairs.
What's the deal with Vintage Tube Service?
the typewriter invoices always crack me up :-)So true. I have a folder filled with them.
Vinyl cut from a digital source is nothing but a vinyl cd.
+1 Ralph.
What's the deal with Vintage Tube Service?
Andy has my credit card info on file. He's always checked stock and quoted a price whilst on the phone. Then he tests the tubes again before shipping. But he is an older fellow and a one man operation, so it takes about a week for him to ship. But l...

Not all records being pressed use the mastering for CDs and digital files. As far as that crappy sounding Metallica goes, I'm surprised they bothered to use RIAA equalization for the vinyl.
Isolated ground for 20 amp
Ok, I understand. But the term "isolated" has nothing to do with bare wire ground vs. insulated.Isolated ground vs. self-ground means the circuit has it’s own dedicated ground wire that bonds the breaker box to the duplex and back to the panel. Th...
Isolated ground for 20 amp
Regarding your ground rods. If they're really old, they may be degraded and who knows what metal they used 30 years ago. And code has changed in the last 30 years.I'll bet the electrician will want to sink 2 new rods with new ground wire back to t...
Isolated ground for 20 amp
The typical Romex used is 10/2 for audio. That’s a hot conductor, a neutral, and a ground. I don't know how 10/3 is wired. You dont want thicker than 10 gauge. FYI, most Romex in a residence is 12 gauge. And solid copper is preferable.

Isolated ground for 20 amp
You should also have ground rods installed 8 ft. into the earth, or as required by code. Typically you would sink 2 ground rods, one for each panel. They would be tied back to the ground in the panels.
What isolation feet under your amp with great result?
@mitch2 That's very expensive to decouple your speakers. The Owens Corning sounds like an interesting project. Maybe you'll discover the secret sauce inside the EVPs.
What isolation feet under your amp with great result?
As an update, the EVP's are working well under my Audio Note preamp. Music is more transparent and uncolored than with Herbies Tenderfeet.Bass is now tight as well. An affordable way to decouple a component.
VAC 70/70 mk3 tube rolling question
Interesting and valuable info. The RCA red base is a 5692 which requires less voltage. But it's good to hear VAC is ok with running all versions of the 6SN7.
Options for ridding records of static electricity
Again, remove the felt mat. I'm using a Herbies mat on my Linn Axis. The Zerostat is still a great solution for removing static from a record (there are directions on how to properly use it). There's the Milty, and then there's the original Zerostat...
