Horn speakers are really bright? 2 pair playing together doesn’t sound good. Also sounds like there is a phase issue happening. I'd like to hear them playing individually. Also, they would sound better with some space around each speaker
RIP oregonpapa I'm so sorry to hear this. He was with us until about a week ago. His contributions to this forum will be greatly missed. Godspeed, Frank.
Dang it, I'm Deaf.... @khughes I agree, my affliction doesn't come close to what Russ is experiencing. All the best to him. Like you, my hyperacusis is intermittent. When it hits, music has to be shut down, tv muted, car stereo off. The louder the audio peaks, the mo...

Best drum solo (best drum sound) I have ever heard... and its a YouTube MP4! The YouTube clip sounds very good.
Best drum solo (best drum sound) I have ever heard... and its a YouTube MP4! https://youtu.be/vjTrehHI-T0 Assuming this is the link, IMO the attack and resonances of the drums sound compressed. Could be due to the compression of the MPEG-4 file. The cymbals, however, sound terrific; very good tonal qualities, shimmer, and...
Dang it, I'm Deaf.... I'm really sorry to hear about your loss, Russ. I have hyperacusis, which is the polar opposite of your condition. It's sensitivity to high frequencies that can cause migraine type pain.
Why do all Mahler recordings seem too bright? Typically the second movement such as an adagio is well balanced and can sound heavenly. Bruckner wrote such beautiful adagios. Why do you corelate the number of instruments with the the number of microphones? Because some engineers in the hey...
Why do all Mahler recordings seem too bright? @kr4 I wasn’t addressing brightness in the Ivan Fisher recordings, should have separated the two thoughts. My issue is with many modern day Bruckner digital recordings. There is emphasis on the brass (trumpets and trombones) due to over mic’ing o...
Why do all Mahler recordings seem too bright? Have you heard the Ivan Fischer/BFO Bruckner 7 on Channel Classics? No, but I've heard the outstanding sonics of his Maher cycle. Will check it out on Qobuz. The close and multi-micd Bruckner is not always what I consider bright, but the brass...
Why do all Mahler recordings seem too bright? May I go off-topic for a moment? I find many of the Bruckner digital recordings bright, and this only applies to the horns. Massed strings sound perfect, but all those mic's on the brass section ruin some performances for me. Anybody else have th...
New Yorker Article on Kenny G +1 @onhwy61 One of Metheny's more subtle comments was to stop playing his music on smooth jazz stations.
Why do all Mahler recordings seem too bright? The Sort Kones have an interesting design, it drains vibration and decouples. Nice find, I'd like to try these.
Next best exponential DAC quality level? Op, do you want a real answer, or a made up one? Does that sound silly? This whole thread is silly. DAC chips are so good today, that you can make a DAC for a few hundred dollars that is better than human hearing will ever be. Add another few h... |
