Otari or Technics Reel-to-Reel ?
I totally agree, Inna. We would make our analogue masters, but if we wanted anybody to buy our music, the record plants require a HiRez digital file as the master. But I suppose we could sell a couple 1/4" reels/year.I wonder if The Tape Project i...
Otari or Technics Reel-to-Reel ?
Yes Atmasphere, 1/2" was great to work with, not to mention the sonics. Wouldn't mind haVing a deck in my home. Even though I'm only in my 50s, I grew up in the analogue world of 1 inch 24/48 track recording. If I had my way, studio sessions would...
AC POWER DISTRIBUTOR/POWER CABLE VERSUS DEDICATED
Rockanroller, you're in a position now where you can decide to install audiophile grade wall receptacles or let the electrician use his standard AC outlets. This is a topic of controversy due to the fact that some believe that there is no audible ...
AC POWER DISTRIBUTOR/POWER CABLE VERSUS DEDICATED
Installing two 20 amp dedicated lines is a good way to go. If you currently have a small system, plan for the future. Also, it's advisable to run digital components on a separate line than the analogue. The next step in a power upgrade is a power c...
Otari or Technics Reel-to-Reel ?
When you search for blank tape on ebay, use the key word "NOS" after "reel to reel tape." This will search for tapes in sealed boxes and "one pass," or lightly used tape. Mind you, the selection ranges from older poor quality tape to high quality ...
Speaker cable suggestions
The Audience's Au 24 and Au 24e are smooth and transparent. And it's remarkable the way they lower the noise floor.Plus the prices have come down since the introduction of the Audience Au-24 SE.

Belden or Canare is for in-wall use.
SUB-WOOFER RECOMMENDS
Suggest you call Marantz. I'm sure this unit has plenty of power.
SUB-WOOFER RECOMMENDS
Use the SETTINGS menu...LIMIT adjusts max volume (in dB). Also adjust the surround sound, are you using the online user manual? It's the Marantz SR5010, right?
Dynaudio Excite Vs. Focus....
Xt, this is interesting and disturbing news.I see that the change in Confidence was cosmetic and the new Emit line seems like an addition, and not a new entry level based on this statement...it is "comprised of loudspeakers with relatively modest ...
Dynaudio Excite Vs. Focus....
Many thanks for the info, Xt. I recently auditioned the Focus 260 and 340 and loved them. But if you are spending that amount of money, you can move up to the Contours. Possibly a reason for lower Focus sales? I wonder...
Dynaudio Excite Vs. Focus....
Xti16, please explain what you have heard about discontinued Dyna lines. Will there only be Focus active speakers in the Focus line?
Power cable "Break in" question
Jea48, you type faster than me.
Power cable "Break in" question
If you can find a IEC to AC power adapter, you can plug into a high current appliance like a refrigerator or air conditioner. It would burn-in much faster; you really need high current similar to your amp. http://www.amazon.com/Parts-Express-Ediso...
Power cable "Break in" question
No, you need to plug into a source that draws AC. Then the current draw will burn-in the PC. Find a source that you can run continuously such as a computer and turn off the sleep mode.
