Shootout of Nos 6sn7 tubes Thomas and big_greg,I'm not enjoying my second pair of 1578's at all. It's taking a long time to burn-in; they don't have the bass extension and impact of my first pair which sounded great from the start. It's a shame one of them crapped out.I hav...
Expanding questions about tubes in a preamp Using a tube damper will not quiet a noisy tube. Noise is usually inherent in the tube. Hum could mean the tube has a fault or it’s coming from elsewhere in the circuit.Dampers can be used to reduce microphonics from a tube. They are often used to...
MTT: Keeping Score - San Francisco Symphony Orchestra Series It's interesting that MTT was not only influenced by Lenny's approach to conducting, but he shares the passion for teaching and sharing his knowledge.
MTT: Keeping Score - San Francisco Symphony Orchestra Series This is so cool. PBS aired a limited series hosted by MTT.I think these are the programs. I only caught four or five of them, they were excellent.Tilson Thomas is also excellent as a presenter.
A warm DAC? +1 photomax 👍
A warm DAC? I’ll agree with your last statement. Although the distortion may be a manufacturing flaw and unintentional. Or not audible. But I still ask, how does it sound?
A warm DAC? djones, my intention wasn't to single you out with regard to vinyl. My point is that the issue of specs doesn't come up when discussing analogue, it's a given that there are distortions. Most likely vinyl is pleasing to the ear due to even order h...
A warm DAC? Audio Note has an interesting design philosophy. They build a component and of course take measurements, record the specs, then they listen to it.They make adjustments until it is pleasing to the designer's ear. The owner of the company is the fir...
Flexable Power Cables for PS Audio Stellar PreAmp/Dac S300 amp I’d like to address this issue, @glow_worm. Pangea is well constructed and would probably provide service for years. As with all cables, design determines the synergy and performance in a system; conductor configuration, dialectric design and mate...
A warm DAC? If you want a " warm" DAC whatever that means then the Border Patrol might fit the bill. It distorts so bad you might as well call it broken. How is this helpful to the OP?How about including a link to a review instead of test measurements.
A warm DAC? i think an R2R DAC from the likes of Denafrips, MHDT, etc, or tube-based might be a better fit.Another vote for a R2R DAC. Border Patrol is also highly regarded for its organic presentation.I use a PS Audio PWT into an Audio Note NOS R2R Dac.These...
Aurender's "Sound" It's worth trying to isolate your amp. I use DH Cones under my amp and other components. They provide a very audible increase in clarity and tighter bass. This may not be the fix you need, but it will improve your sonics.
ifi iPhono 3 "Black Label" Anyone? Yes, it does look like it's been working out.I was seriously eyeing the iPhono 2, looking forward to your impression of the 3.
ifi iPhono 3 "Black Label" Anyone? Both the iPhono 2 and 3 use wall-warts for power. Do you think upgraded power is needed?Haven't checked out the review yet.
Flexable Power Cables for PS Audio Stellar PreAmp/Dac S300 amp Same result with the Pangea for me. Bought the original, sound was thick and murky like a bad stock cable. Then bought the upgraded XL cable. Better but still not impressed; overly warm, lacking transparency. |
