Help with my analog rig.
Lewm.... I have the VPI turntable grounded to the Fosgate phono preamp. All the equipment power cords are grounded, but you have a good idea for me to unground these, one at a time. I'll try that. I also agree with about buying another piece of eq...
Top Hat Tube Dampers?
Listened to the Fosgate last night with the Top Hats installed. There was an improvement in the quietness of the background. Music came from a more black background. It was quieter, allowing me to hear deeper into the music. This was not a night-a...
Top Hat Tube Dampers?
Thanks for the info. I thought it was Elmer's, but didn't want to try until it was confirmed. I'll let you know what I think about them, after I install them (probably tonight). I'll be using them on a couple of tubes in my phono preamp (Fosgate).
Cartrodge break-in and counterweight question?
Anyone know if the Expressimo Heavy Weight is still being manufactured, and if so, who sells it?
Cartrodge break-in and counterweight question?
The tonearm is the stock tonearm that comes on a Music Hall MMF-7. Any suggestions as to a counterweight (what will fit, what would sonically be superior)?
Opinions on budget TT
I purchased a slightly used Music Hall MMF-7 here on A'gon, just ot test the analog waters again (I've listened to digital exclusively for the last 8-10 years). It comes with a Goldring Eroica h/o moving coil cartridge. It has proven to be one, if...
Using long interconnects with your turntable?
Elizabeth,Again, thanks for the suggestion. The more I think about it, the more sense it makes.
Using long interconnects with your turntable?
Elizabeth,Now you're talking. That make's a lot of sense. Why didn't I think of that? I have a preamp (with the phono section built in), and a seperate power amp. I'm definetly going to consider your suggestion. Moving the rack (even though it wil...
Using long interconnects with your turntable?
Thorman,The ceiling in my room is vaulted, so the wall behind the rack is only 4 ft high. In addition, behind the rack on the floor are two power conditioners. One is for my pre and power amp (Running Springs Audio), the other (Bybee) is for my CD...
Spectral Reference Cartridge question
Sorry Raul, I do need to update my system, as I have done quite a bit since I've updated my original post. Of course, two things I did was add a Music Hall MMF-7 (Goldring h/o M/C cartridge) feeding a new Odyssey 'Tempest' preamp. Dr. Joe, I've th...
Recommendation needed for Turntable
After being away from analog for 10 years, I recently purchased a used Music Hall MMF-7, and couldn't be more happy. Big, full bodied, rich sound. Wide, open soundstage. Comes with VTA adjustable arm (although it is a pain to adjust, due to the lo...
New favorite VINYL Album?
Just got the Led Zeppelin 'Mothership' boxed set. Brings back great memories, and the music is great, song after song (and sounds pretty damn good too). Crank it up, it's just great fun!
dustcover up, down or off
I have a Music Hall 7, and it definetly sounds better with the dustcover removed.
Advice needed on sub $1000 setup
I purchased a used (almost new, really) Music Hall 7. It's great. I've had so much fun listening to my vinyl again. The thing sounds great (but if you get one, take the felt mat off, and just put the record right on the acrylic platter, and tighte...
What's your favorite Turntable tweak?
Raul, I'm talking about anything...including cartridge, tonearm, actual turntable, alignement tools, cleaners, etc, etc.)
