To much high
I would have to say that the statement of 'wasting time switching cables' is a little off the mark, as cables can greatly impact the overall sound. (Van den Hul vs. Kimber, in general, have totally contrasting characteristics - Van den Hul being w...
Speakers with forward midrange?
try Epos M12's or M12.2's... reasonable cost and have fantastic midrange...
Speakers for Naim Nait 5i Integrated.
try Neat speakers... excellent match
NHT 3.3 or Mirage M1Si?
Ender, you are absolutely correct with your statements on preamp and source. I ran a pair of 2.5i's with a Unico for a while and it, having a tube preamp stage, smoothed them out quite a bit...very liquid. Only problem for me at the time was that ...
Closed box, Port-less speakers
uhhhhhh... check out the GMA Europas...Apparently they are front ported and can be placed very close to a rear wall with minimal detraction from the sound quality. I have not personally heard them yet, but I've read TONS of good things about them....
NHT 3.3 or von Scheikert VR4
I'm not sure how on Earth anyone can claim the 3.3 to be a 'cheesy' speaker...it's anything but. The 3.3's, with the proper setup, are some of the most spectacular sounding speakers you can find (dollar for dollar, especially nowadays). I've never...
What are best speakers for low powered tube amps?
Although I don't have much (any) experience with them aside from a very bried listen, I understand that Living Voice speakers are fantastic with tube gear. Worth a look.
NHT 3.3 or Mirage M1Si?
Having worked in a 'high end' audio store in the mid-90s, I have heard a wide range of speakers from that time period, including both that you've mentioned. Not that my opinion should REALLY mean anything to you, but here's what I think:Mirage M1s...
What other obsessions do you have?
Mountainbiking - used to race mtb's about 13-14 years ago(although BOTH my bikes were ripped off last year!!!!!! AAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGHHHH!!!)I enjoy working out, but chronic back injuries reduce that to a minimum.Further, art art art!!! I us...
Does your system's sound change with the weather?
I've noticed this many, many times. Without a doubt, air pressure/ humidity affect sound. Given the fact that air is the avenue through which sound travels, this relation only makes sense. It's no wonder that some of us audiophiles (well, I suppos...
Two way vs. Three way Speakers
Given the fact that crossovers and crossover points are considered to be very tricky to implement and crucial to seamless blending of drivers, it only makes sense that having one vs. two crossover points would be easier for the builder to get a se...
Damping Vibration - Friend or Foe?
So, basically you're saying...ok ok OK! i DIDN'T read all the postings. the first few killed me. What happened to the usual, nonsensical diatribes that USUALLY permeate this forum...?NO SERIOUSLY. i think i'm losing my mind.thank you to all who care.
Epos M12 Vs. M12.2
ok,there MUST be SOMEONE who's compared these two speakers by now. Right? *sigh*:(
Epos M12.2 vs. Von Schweikert VR 1 vs. GMA Europas
Andy2,Yes, you are very much correct with your comments on the AudioQuest Type 4 cable. Still, I firmly believe that the sonics that I wish to clean up are too far askew for the corrections to be made solely by cables and ic's. what I need are spe...
