Looking for new speakers? i did a similar search for near-wall positioned speakers, albeit at a lower budget. the best i heard i were paradigm signatures. i'd also be interested in checking out ohms, which seem to be impervious to placement and have the no-risk home auditi...
Advice on adding a sub to my system adding a sub will have a much more significant effect than rolling tubes. hsu subs are, as stated, fantastic values. you might, however consider a martin logan dynamo, which is widely available in your price range. because the ml sub is designed t...
Nad c-370: Right Channel drops out It's notable to me that (much like British cars)for all its positive qualities NAD simply isn't reliable as a brand--these forums are full of NAD gripes and problems. Thinking back, I've owned five or six NAD pieces (amps and sources); all but one...
Best Audio quality in Home Theatre Reciever? DVD ? you haven't specified a budget, but in general b&k and arcam avrs have considerably better inboard amps and sound significantly better than the mass market gear. their older, non-hdmi units are great values used.
Do you ever wonder? I'll go out on a limb and throw U2 on the skewer. I sorta liked their early, punky stuff (I still listen to Boy once in a while), but their mega-grandiose stadium anthem stuff (Joshua Tree et al) sounds kinda like Spinal Tap to me. They seem like ...
record stores in Chicago the way i see it, you can have a romantic weekend anytime, but you can't always go record shopping in a great music city. buy the wife a couple of cds so she feels special and have a great trip.
Do you ever wonder? entire books should be (and probably have been) written about the whole grateful dead cult phenomenom. i've been subjected to their interminable live shows and bootleg tapes, which is my idea of hell. now, i don't think their whole ouevre is entir...
Speakers help for a newb... the vs vr1s and paradigm recommendations above are certainly good ones, but you'll need stands. i'd also look at monitor audio rs6/rs8 or vs vr2 floorstanders, which are fuller range and won't take up any more real estate.
record stores in Chicago reckless records (on milwaukee ave. in wicker park and in new town) is probably your best bet--it has a mindnumbing collection of used and new stuff, esp. rock; jazz record mart on east illinois downtown is vg source for jazz and blues, albeit on ...
looking for speakers under 3K new or used,,,help revel f30 or f32, vonschweikert vr2 or vr4se, joseph audio, vmps rm30 or rm40
Do you ever wonder? actually, not that he's a titan of the biz, but ian hunter's epononymous lp and "you're never alone..." were really good 70s pop records. wrt clapton, for some reason i can't abide any of his solo stuff after "eric clapton" (which was really a del...
Do you ever wonder? i do think that certain guys can only make worthwhile music in the context of a band--when they step out solo, they flail around miserably. look at the solo records from mick jagger, roger waters, clapton, pete townsend, roger mcguinn et. al.--ver...
Do you ever wonder? marty, you've turned me around on this subject. i retract my earlier post and now concur that he's a drug addled ass clown. his solo work does suck. there's less talented people in the biz, but fate is a fickle mistress.
Do you ever wonder? on a certain level, martykl has david crosby pegged. he was, however, one of the great harmony singers (go back and listen to the early byrds stuff) and has his name on a fair number of classic songs--8 miles high, wooden ships, triad, etc.--and w...
1K used monitor with wide/uniform dispersion ablang--by all means audition the kefs--your opinion is ultimately the one that matters. it does seem like kef has lost some brand cachet in recent years--you rarely see their stuff touted with the same enthusiasm as the quad, harbeth, proac and o... |
