Are Buchardt A500 Signature Edition A Good Choice For First Speakers?
i've only heard the passive s400, which are vg, but based on features/specs $4k doesn't seem like a bad deal for the a500, considering you get a full range speaker, amp, wifi streamer and dac in one package. i would be curious to hear how these co...
What does Nominal Impedance mean?
Almarg was awesome. RIP.
Want Multi-Disc CD Player Recommendations
+1 the integra cdc 3.4--i've owned lots of multidisc changers (rotel, sony, yam, arcam, denon) and the integra has been the most reliable--nice quiet mechanism and pretty good sounding
SPDIF splitter
just look up spdif splitter on amazon--they have numerous choices from ten bucks on up--you can return it if it doesn't work well
Mini Bluetooth speaker for outdoors... recommendation-seeker...
oontz angle 3 costs around $30 and sounds surprisingly good; also waterproof and durable
Which receiver to keep, Yamaha CR2020 or HK 630
the hk is a really good sounding piece which feels a lot more powerful than its rating, but i'd also probably keep the yammie, which is bigger, pricier and more sought-after.
Goodbye Everyone
say what you will about the steve hoffman or asr forums, which can be insufferably rigid and intolerant, but folks there do actually stay on point and interact with each other, as opposed to the agon standard of bloviating and talking past each ot...
Denon DCD-3520 CD Player
fantastic piece--i sold mine here on agon a few years ago and have missed it ever since. i do know that belts are easy to find on ebay and quite easy to replace, but as you've experienced the thing is overbuilt to hell and i'd be surprised if you ...
Inexpensive Streaming
+1 wiim mini. Disruptive product
Whats on your turntable tonight?
strum and thrum: the american jangle underground 1983-1987--fantastic compilation of (mostly) unknown guitar pop, although a few of these bands (windbreakers, primotons) may be remembered by obsessives. check out absolute grey, the reverbs and sal...
Whats on your turntable tonight?
@jeffstrick @bkeske just listened to lankum, which i’d never hear before--really dark, but hypnotizing stuff. @bslon the hitmen were pretty great--their first record especially. my hats off to your knowledge of obscure 80s guitar bands noone else...
Given an Onkyo Integra M 504 today. Worth keeping?
i had one back in the day and it was a helluva piece--massive power and  great at low volume; also cool meters and wood sides. warm and not as transparent as modern amps--perhaps a little rolled off in the highs, but it sounded good with vinyl. lo...
The problem with PLC
So the purported clown idiot has generated 39 (now 40) responses to his nonsense. Which, I must admit, means he wins again.
A coupla good stories about Merle Haggard.
i just cued up that big brother record ("be a brother"), which was rated two stars on allmusic.com, and i was surprised how good it is--nick gravanites is no janis but he is a first-rate songwriter who's behind a lot of classic stuff from quicksil...

@valinar surprisingly, that was a post Janis big brothers song...but I share the sentiment
