10 k speaker setup. 5.1
i agree with ghdprentice--you won't want to forgo the center channel. it sounds like you can't do a conventional setup of your fronts/center because of the screen, but it would be more helpful if you posted a photo of the room--conceivably they co...
Robbie Robertson: "Killers Of The Flower Moon" Soundtrack
i saw the movie this weekend and while i love classic scorcese, this one  was a big disappointment--unrelentingly grim, dull and loooong. soundtrack was fine but not memorable.  i didn't like "oppenheimer" either, so maybe it's me.
Whats on your turntable tonight?
@slaw old ramon is the best thing mark kozolek has done....gorgeous intense record. Too bad he's such a stroke---god plays strange tricks when doling out genius.
Not sure if I have enough oomph.
with revels, it's more about having high current delivery than raw wattage--i've run mine with a 125w parasound (among many others) which does just fine. now, i don't think i've heard your krell, but reading the specs it should be more than enough...
Which to keep! Pick one of these two soeakers
@cabkab perhaps you can post a photo of your spendors--according to the reviews i read the s100 model was made from 1989-1994 (there was an sp100 model thereafter. in any case, i've heard it and it's vg--i'd try tinkering with the levels on your s...
Which to keep! Pick one of these two soeakers
i think the spendor s100 are of 1990 vintage, so not so old. since you have a sub i'd pick them over the martin logan, which look cool but didn't sound that great to me.
The greatest Pop song yet written and recorded.
@tylermunns theres a great obscure Carole King song called creepin midnight on the s/t album seatrain (70s hippie band that got some brief attention. Check it out and lettuce know.
Whats on your turntable tonight?
for the first time in a long time i actually sat in my living room w/o any distractions and listened to some randoms discs, specifically: jesus and mary chain, darklands--not sure if i like this poppier iteration more than the skronky debut, but ...
Spotify's HiFi tier could finally be about to launch
it's uncanny how many times spotify's algorithim has drudged up and recommended to me some fantastically obscure record i might have heard once and liked 50 years ago. its playlist and radio station functions are also extremely prescient. amazon a...
Spotify's HiFi tier could finally be about to launch
+1. They've been teasing the hi rez tier for five years, and I've hung with them just because I'm hooked on their UI. I really wish they'd stop screwing around...if they don't get the damn thing out within the next five years I'll quit.
3.2 Channel with upgraded L/R or 5.2 channel?
I spose if you got money to burn you could upgrade your pioneer avr  to something like anthem or arcam (depending on what you get you might need another amp)--it might sound a little bit better than what you got, but most folks wouldn't notice the...
3.2 Channel with upgraded L/R or 5.2 channel?
you could always pay more and get better, but your speakers and other gear are really nice and 5.2 is optimal for movies--i wouldn't change your system
Building a music room
personally, at your budget i'd cut out all the big boxes and go with wireless speakers like the ls50 wireless II (you can find for $1500 or so used)--they have a built in dac and streamer and you can add a sub and/or phono preamp + you can add add...
Intg Amps: Hegel 590 vs NAD M33 Masters vs Gryphon Diablo 120
your hegel 190 is 150w, which is more than the gryphon--unless you're planning on powering inefficient planars in a very large room, i'm not sure you need more power, though i certainly understand the urge to change/upgrade. i would think you'd ge...
The greatest Pop song yet written and recorded.
years ago i posted a thread which posited that "five o'clock world" by the vogues was the greatest pop song ever created. it's certainly the greatest to feature yodeling. i'd also throw in neil young's "expecting to fly", which i never tire of. a...
