My new VTV Audio Class D amp arrived today
Update on previous post...the VTV amp arrived yesterday late so I didnt get it hooked up till today. If it holds up long term I will not regret the purchase...it sounds wonderful! I had it turned up so I was getting peaks of 105 db at about 6-8 fe...
Best Audiophile desktop for under $2500?
instead of a mac mini, try a macbook air. Something with decent performance and portable too if needed. will run a long time on the battery which eliminates noise from the charging PS. I like mine well. :)
Spotify or Pandora
you can download music direct to your computer if you have two machines. You need the download source streaming the music - take that feed and input it to your other computer thru recording software. Voila you are good to go.
My new VTV Audio Class D amp arrived today
I just ordered a VTV Hypex ncore NC502 stereo amp yesterday, I am very curious as to how well their small enclosure will dissipate the heat from 2 500 watt amplifiers running at moderate levels...and then how it handles levels approaching live wit...
Enough is Enough
You guys that have 50k to throw down for a single component are way out of my league...50k for the whole system would be the upper end for me. I just can't throw more than that at a single system.
B&W 705s3 vs Kef Meta R3
Given the ineptitude shown by salespeople at our local BB its entirely likely the tweeters in the speakers you were auditioning were fried. I can't say of course that this is a universal problem with certainty, but I'd say the odds are likely. Loc...
Any regrets in selling gear?
The pieces that come to mind include a pair of larger Advent speakers and the high power (for the day) Kenwood receiver that drove them. My AR turntable. My Hafler amplifier. Many of the pieces lost in the fire I have very strong regrets for their...
Do you have a perfect digital marriage?
I have a Emotiva TA1 DAC/amp driven from my desktop via Toslink to the Dac and that is driving a pair of Ohm 2000 Walsh omnis along with a pair of PC2000 SVS subs. Very happy with the overall sound, though the Ohm's need a bit more power than the ...
Why is an iPhone such a good streamer?
before my house burned, when working in the garage, which i did a lot, I used my phone via bluetooth to drive a dayton audio class d dac/amplifier which in turn drove a pair of old 2-way bookshelf speakers and and dayton audio sub. Full range soun...
Should I replace the crossover capacitors in my vintage AR 3a speakers?
Erik, I appreciate your thoughtful answer. I wonder how many people have not thought this thru and replaced the old caps in a crossover just because it seemed like a good thing to do while they were refurbishing an old speaker and unknowingly did ...
Enough is Enough
My experience with dealers has been similar some stated above. Further my situation is much like the guy in Australia...no decent dealers locally or within an hour or two. Every place I have been in recent experience has been disappointing both fo...
DeVore O/93 or PureAudioProject Duet15 for a First Watt SIT-3?
This reference to speakers built in Brooklyn sounds suspiciously like Ohm Acoustics...and I find it somewhat startling that there could be two speaker manufacturers in Brooklyn. That said, I have never heard or heard of the ones referred to in thi...
How do you pick your gear? Tips and insights are welcome.
I read as many reviews from as many different places as I can, focusing on objective measurements first followed by a listeners impressions. Where I live there are no serious audio stores within 3 hours from me, so auditioning is not really an opt...
McIntosh purchased by Bose...NOT an April Fool's joke.
ANY corporate buyout/takeover is bad news for the company being bought. It never ends well, not for the employees or the product being offered. Inevitably, Mr Moneybags buying failing company thinks he knows more about Failing company's business a...
Friends hi-fi system not very good, what do you do or say?
I tend to take the attitude that if they own it and seem to like it, my opinion is irrelevant. I have a friend who is fond of saying "good enough for who it's for" and we all draw the line in the sand that separates acceptable and non-acceptable i...
