Ayre Codex or Bryston
The DAC is less important in my opinion than the source. It sounds like you want the Codex for functionality. If you want a cheaper option, get the SOtM sMS-200. It's about $450 new.
Ayre Codex or Bryston
The Ayre Codex is great. Get it; then add a USB NIC to your computer, bridge the LAN ports, add a SOtM sMS-200 Ultra and tX-USB Ultra and prepare to be amazed. Take it to another level by adding a modded switch and master reference clock.
Aurender N100h vs. SOtM sms-200 Ultra
The Ultra does sound a lot better, especially if you add in the switch mod, tX-USB Ultra, and a master reference clock such as the Mutec Ref10/CyberShaft/SOtM.
New Yggdrasil - First (and second) Impressions
@gdhal That's what every DAC designer says, but I haven't found that to be true.  Of course YMMV, but I highly suggest that you try improving your upstream components.
Gumby vs Yggy
Sonore ultraRendu, microRendu, or sMS-200, sMS-200 Ultra will almost certainly sound better than a good computer.
New Yggdrasil - First (and second) Impressions
I agree with Steve and have tested $100 DACs such as the ODAC all the way up to the Chord Dave and Ayre QX-5 Twenty.  None of the DACs made as big of an improvement as adding a Sonore microrendu or SOtM sMS-200 Ultra.
Gumby vs Yggy
I could barely tell a difference between my Bimby and Yggy.  Your money is probably better spent on a good source.
Audio cables ,and power cords the most forgotton- part of an Audio system.
Surprisingly, I've heard bigger differences with digital cables than analog cables in my system.Magnepan 3.7i's Sanders Magtech Audio Research REF6 Schiit Yggdrasil
Tube preamp recommendations $3K-$7K range
I use single-ended to my Sanders Magtech, and it sounds great. I used balanced from my DAC to the pre though.

I had the Aesthetix Calypso Signature and replaced it with an ARC Ref5SE. The Ref5SE was significantly better.
Magneplanar Listening Comparison 1.7 vs. 3.7 Speakers
The i versions sound a lot better than the non i versions. When I had my 3.7's, I'm pretty sure that I preferred my 1.7i's to them.
Aurender N100h vs. SOtM sms-200 Ultra
Look at this thread:https://www.head-fi.org/threads/review-comparison-of-5-high-end-digital-music-servers-aurender-n10-c...Romaz has already compared the SOtM gear to the top end Aurender and found it to be better.
HELP ADVICE FEEDBACK PS Audio BHK 300 - Hegel H30 - Pass Labs X250.8 or Pass X350.5 amp
You would get a ton of bang-for-the-buck improvement if you upgraded your microRendu to a SOtM SMS-200 Ultra with tX-USB Ultra and master reference clock like the Mutec Ref10.
Dedicated Music server vs Mac mini on a Devialet via Ethernet (AIR) connection
@shadorne That's what Rob Watts (designer of the Chord Dave) and Chris Hansen (Ayre) say as well: their DACs are immune to upstream signal issues.  That was not true when I tested the Chord DAVE and the Ayre QX-5 Twenty.  Both still sounded better...
