Anyone tried Magnepan 1.6's with rock music? If you want to rock out 70s style, then get these:https://www.klipsch.com/products/details/la-scala-ii.aspxand a good record player (which will probably also breathe life into some of the 'flatter' stuff on CD from early or mid 70s). You will have...
Anyone tried Magnepan 1.6's with rock music? I have 3.6s, but also had smga's and 2.somethings, here are some comments:Dark Side of the Moon - absolutely amazing. 'Time' is better than most speakers because of the way things flow from maggies. You will do well with all of the Floyd stuff.Led...
Add a subwoofer to Von Schweikert 4Srs? According to:http://www.vonschweikert.com/FreqGraph_vr4sr.jpgThis speaker is flat to 20 hz. That is one of the best response curves I've seen!! So, focus on break-in and room placement.Give that several months, then verify with other vrSr owners, ...
The Richard Clark "all amps sounds the same" test Cool - so do a 'home test' if you have the couple hours. (btw, that is a *very* cool looking amp.) Have someone get 12 tracks (I think that is what he suggests) put a sheet up over your stuff and have someone do the switching. Do the full abx test...
Add a subwoofer to Von Schweikert 4Srs? Speakers sometimes take longer to break in than we think, and bass should continue to improve as you go. Note that breaking in with music takes hundreds of times longer than breaking in with a good test tone, because the test tone constantly is wo...
The Richard Clark "all amps sounds the same" test Well, 2 reasons. I don't know if the offer still stands, but he offers $10,000 to anyone who can pass his test. If you win you can buy an amp with that money :).Second reason, to add to the body of knowledge that exists in the public domain. Peopl...
Musical Fidelity A5 CD player - long With everything going to digital and music servers I'm both glad and not-glad I bought the A5 3 years ago. I do love it, but the addition of a digital input should be mandatory for any CD Player over 2k at this point... It doesn't make sense for u...
16K to Spend. Help me make the end all Upgrade. The only reason to get rid of an X350 is to get an X350.5.:)
16K to Spend. Help me make the end all Upgrade. Have you heard the Maggie 20.1s or Soundlabs? Soundlabs should have at least 2 models in that price range. There are some things they do that are almost impossible to match with box speakers, though of course box speakers compare much more favoura...
Dali Ikon I like them. I'm an electrostatic/planar guy and this is one of the few box speakers I like. I also like Von Schweikerts, fwiw. I still bought planars, but give a hearty thumbs up to the Ikons. Great etched imaging among other things.
Rank Stereophile, & why no Von Schweikert reviews 10 years ago when a friend would buy a computer I would help them and it was really important that they get this one rather than that one for this that and the other reason. Today, I myself, am content to go to Costco and get a computer if I need ...
Pass Labs Power Cord The reason Pass Amps don't respond to high-cost power cords like other amps is, and I'm not sure I understand this 100%, but I've read that as true class A (I have Aleph 5 - and this may not apply to their modern Class AB amps) they draw the same ...
Soundlabs and magnepan mix on front stage????? Just want to add - although expensive this idea isn't so crazy. I'm actually a bit down on surround sound as I haven't seen it do much. I know recently there are more setups and 3/4 digit acronyms that try to separate voice and other noise and sen...
Which allround speaker ? No problem. As punishment, at least listen to the 20.1s - if they won't work, fine, but just find out what the 'planar' thing is and why people keep raving about them like madmen even if they won't fit. It will be fun!
Which allround speaker ? I stayed pretty close to 10k :)(10k USD is your stated top end in first message, no?) |
