Replaced La Scala with...?
New LaScalas!!!!http://www.klipsch.com/products/lists/heritage.aspxOr Klipschorn - that seems like the 'best' one there without being the crazy anniversary model.I think some of those would be really really fun to play with. And you could get an e...
Subwoofer for Magnepan 20.1s Yes/No/Why?
Awesome system! I have 3.6s also with Pass amplification. I used an awesome woofer (Hsu top of the line) and profiled with Rives and RS meter. One thing I found is that the speakers took a *long* time to break in. Almost a year and the woofer pane...
Pass, Bryston, Audio Research, or McIntosh?
Several comments:1) You are in the price range of the Pass Labs pure ClassA vs ClassAB amps. They are different, and I would try them. So, for example, XA100.5 or XA160.5. The Maggies have such a pure upper midrange, and pure class A makes that si...
Thoughts on the best bang for the buck
Best bang for the buck - you've got to try the 7520 Beresford DAC.
Is it good to drive the magnepan 3.6?
If you have 2, I would stronlgy consider bi-amping with an active crossover. The main 2 people talk about using with Magnepans are the Bryston (1 model) and Marchand who have at least 3 that apply at different price points. From what I've been tol...
Best DAC under $ 2,500 on used market
The Bel Canto and Bryston new DACs are in that range and are pretty darn good. They represent the latest in technology - DACs loose value as new formulas come out, I'm not sure you'll do better with used over those two at around 2 or 2.5k. With am...
Sooloos music server: Anyone hear, anyone a dealer
Okay - good. The planets and stars are aligned once again :)....
Sooloos music server: Anyone hear, anyone a dealer
Unless I'm missing something one of the funny things about this thread is theat Henryhk has one of the best DACs that exist at any price. EMM Labs DCC2 SE DA converter. For Gods Sake Man - plug in the Sooloos into your DAC! :)Okay - ignoring that a...
Wadia 170i and Benchmark Dac1 - anyone try it?
Awesome! I'm glad we pushed the issue.Okay, back to main topic. I can only speak theoretically as I don't have the Wadia, but since the Benchmark re-clocks, the Wadia should sound the same as anything else. Remember what re-clocking means. It mean...
Any insight with the Berkeley Alpha DAC ..??
Oh - to be clear, I am assuming we are running RR HRX or other also into Emmlabs DAC, I'm not tring to compare next-gen CDs against old, I'm trying to ask about Alpha DAC vs Emmlabs and/or dcs DACs.
Wadia 170i and Benchmark Dac1 - anyone try it?
If you were to do that and let us know I at least would find that extremely interesting. Sorry, I know there is a bit of thread hijacking here, but lots of people are about to create a setup like this, so this is very interesting.
Any insight with the Berkeley Alpha DAC ..??
Do others agree? Emmlabs and dcs is pretty serious stuff... But, I'm open to it - that is why I ask. Anyone migrate from Emmlabs/dcs to Alpha DAC? Anyone do direct comparo's with those?
Wadia 170i and Benchmark Dac1 - anyone try it?
That is also my understanding.TeddyBear - the thing is that re-clocking is relatively new. What people are saying is that if the DAC re-clocks the data at its input, then it is independent of transport.I don't know 100% if this is true, but this s...
Wadia 170i and Benchmark Dac1 - anyone try it?
Adasilva, I was thinking of doing exactly what you are doing above. S350 into Benchmark. Can you tell us more about your settings? Are you forcing 2-channel downmix? Have you verified what is being sent in terms of 16/44.1 or 24/96 and all that? I...
Anyone listening to 24/196?
Yeah:DSD64 = 1BIT / 2.8224 MHz = 2.8224 Mbit/s (per channel)DSD128 = 1BIT / 5.6448 MHz = 5.6448 Mbit/s (per channel)DXD (PCM) = 24 BIT / 352.8kHz = 8.4672 Mbit/s (per channel)
