Tone arm holes do not line up - best way to attach TT?
What is P2P definition?
Tone arm holes do not line up - best way to attach TT?
You wrote, "When I put the center pivot of the arm at the specified distance, 296mm..."  Are you saying that you can set up the tonearm such that the distance from the pivot point to the axis of the spindle is exactly or very nearly exactly 296mm ...
Tone arm holes do not line up - best way to attach TT?
Something is "off", if you set the VTF to 2 g (for what cartridge?) and the tonearm flies across the grooves toward the spindle. Any VTF greater than 2g is very unusual (high) for most of the commonly used MC cartridges. As Antinn says, check anti...
Tone arm holes do not line up - best way to attach TT?
I read the thread, and I am still a bit puzzled as to the nature of your problem, because the Reed tonearms do not require drilling a large diameter hole to accommodate a vertical shaft.  They are all top-mounted, so far as I know. Which is to say...
.2mv vs .4mv out for LOMC into 60db gain phono stage?
Your integrated amplifier also includes the phono stage you intend to use?  If not, say what phono stage.  Does the linestage within the integrated amplifier add gain to the gain already provided by the phono section or outboard stage, whichever i...
Is this possible?
davey, No way his "linestage" does not have an RIAA equalization circuit after the input gain stage, if it really works.  Not only is RIAA imperative, but also a true linestage input would never have enough gain for the Koetsu to perform properly.
MM Cartridge Talk
What Chakster said.  The only one of my MC cartridges that is clearly up with the best of my MM or MI types is my Ortofon MC2000.  Other LOMCs I own are also very good, and I do listen to them frequently, but no one of them stands clearly above th...
LP's: the measure of off-centre record spindle holes ?
Phoenix/Roadrunner will help speed accuracy and stability, but how would it do anything at all to cure off-center LPs of their off-centeredness?
LP's: the measure of off-centre record spindle holes ?
If this is driving you nuts, seek out one of the Nakamichi turntables that can correct for off-centeredness; I think there were two models with that feature, now very rare and never since duplicated by another manufacturer, for some strange reason.
need cartridge suggestion
DV Karat is good, but 17D2 was superseded by 17D3 many years ago and now 17D3 is superseded by 17DX, which you can buy NOS with confidence. All three are fine cartridges at a reasonable price, except I guess the 17DX is bumped up in price.
Making phono resistance plugs
Oldhv, that reference you cited is poorly written at best and in some cases plain wrong, in my opinion. One could argue about the audibility of the load resistor itself, but it certainly is in the signal path, contrary to what is stated. Second, t...
Most hyped turntable, tonearm, and cartridge?
Define “hyped”.
TONEARM DAMPING : DAMPED OR NOT ? ? USELESS ? ? WELCOMED ? ?
Makes sense. Thanks.  But in that case you are using a pure tone from a test LP, not music, which is fine but does not quite mimic the real world situation.  Because music will always give a very complex wave form on a 'scope, that is why I asked ...
TONEARM DAMPING : DAMPED OR NOT ? ? USELESS ? ? WELCOMED ? ?
Bill, What does mistracking look like on a 'scope?  Wouldn't you need a positive control, a cartridge that does not mistrack the passage, to know what you are looking at?  Thanks.
Most hyped turntable, tonearm, and cartridge?
Dear Ihcho, So, from the "most hyped" question, this thread eventually turned into a bunch of recommendations for purchase, and I fell into the trap myself. I’ve got to correct you on one statement; the "high end" Technics turntables (SP10 Mk2 and...
