Which component to upgrade to improve bass control?
You don't say why subs and room treatment are out. I have a friend who was in a similar position to you in a square room (the worst) with all hard surfaces and his expensive kit sounded horrible, I don't know how else to describe it, certainly bro...
Is bass the most important frequency band?
OP, all frequencies are important as that is what constitutes music and your proposition that bass should be optimised is solid. Achieving optimal bass is the quest and is what stymies the vast majority of enthusiasts mainly because of a lack of u...
Audiophile Priorities and Recent Topics
I'm sure there are a large number of experienced members who seldom post now because of all the vitriol spewed around. It never used to be like this , I remember avidly reading new posts of interest and looking forward to the next Thursday's Weekl...
Recommendations and thoughts for end game speakers and amps
OP, @ ghasley expressed his displeasure at members recommending something they have never tried, and I fully agree. I also do not think you will get an unbiased opinion from retailers. What I am recommending, without hearing, is the speaker cable ...
Are you also leaving free (virtually) performance on the table?
When I did some instrument wiring for the navy we had crocus paper for cleaning terminals and contacts. It's not a sandpaper or abrasive as such, more of a cloth, but cleans and polishes leaving the metal bright. Need to find some more.
Klipsch Forte ii too bright, or is it my room ?
@sns, as there is radio silence from the OP I would like to ask you about the caps in your XO that I saw when looking at photos of your system. It looks like you have Audyn and Jupiter. How did you come to choose these over say Mundorf  or Duelund?
Klipsch Forte ii too bright, or is it my room ?
OP OK, The smart advice here is to treat the room. Know that all rooms need treatment. It’s a fact and I’ll say it again: all rooms need treatment, even the Royal Albert Hall, London had to have massive diffusers installed to get rid of the echo.I...
DAC Upgrade Advice, budget $5k
Hi OP, I am uncharacteristically going to recommend something I haven't heard. I have 2 DACs which due to downsizing would like to replace with a more modern one. After much research I finally bought a Mojo Audio Mystique V3 from Benjamin afte...
DAC Upgrade Advice, budget $5k
Yes, lots of love for the Mojo DACs
What is wrong with my system?
B&W are voiced for a ’noticeable’ top-end so in a demo against other speakers they stand out. Today the race is on for detail, detail and detail and you unfortunately have a system that is showcasing this. The advice to change caps can be ignore...
DAC Shootout Starts This Weekend
Hi OP, I would be extremely interested if you could somehow get your hands on an Mojo Mystique V3 or one of the newer models. They are in a similar price range. I am looking for a modern replacement for my ancient Wadia 15 (redbook only) DAC, whic...
Problem Solvers Needed-Got my New XOs installed and am worried....
Hi chorus, some good info supplied and also some not so good. There appears to be a means of adjusting the overall balance of sound with jumpers and something there might be the cause of your problem. What is not the cause is break-in. Initially ...
Best kept secret in AC line filtering conditioning
cleeds, fair enough. So it’s not the power cord that needs to be changed but just the connector that plugs into the wall? I have lived in countries that use one voltage only. South Africa, UK and now Ireland which are all +/_ 230V The potatoes are...
Best kept secret in AC line filtering conditioning
@cleeds, you not only have things backwards but upside down, back to front and inside out :)You also state: " And of course the power cord will need to be changed to have the proper connector for the 240VAC service."The IEC receptacle is an indust...
Best kept secret in AC line filtering conditioning
@thyce, if your 15 amp breakers are tripping then change them for ones with a different trip-curve. The breakers are thermomagnetic devices. The magnetic side will cause instantaneous trip like in a lightening strike, the thermo side will heat up ...
