whatz up with tape input/outputs? well, of course you can use them for other sources. As far as the lack of a phono section, performance-wise you would be better off with a separate phono pre-amp.

Question re: Power conditioner I say thee yea. My Monster 5100SS dropped the noise floor considerably, and allowed new details to emerge.Like everything else in this hobby, your mileage may vary. Buy one, and if you don't like it, flip it here on A'gon.
Ladies analogy lover? Krellm7, I don't think I can buy your definition completely. Being an audiophile/stereophile doesn't correlate with the with price tag of your system, but more with the lengths you have gone to in maximizing the performance of your system.I'm a pr...
Ladies analogy lover? Opalchip hits the nail on the head. Whereas the music is supposed to be the end, and the gear is the means, some people reverse the two.
DVD/SACD with coax digital input? I am totally unaware of any playback devices currently that have a coax input to DAC an external source.Sorry.
The song you just cant stop playing??? I've had "I want a hippopotamus for Christmas" stuck in my head for five days nonstop.it sucks you in!
Which Intergrated amp for starter?? A truly underated and often ignored integrated is the Yamaha RX777. It's in your budget, and has a surprising amount of juice for a basic integrated. Plus (at least to me), it is built like a tank, and is totally without frills or pointless extras.
Ladies analogy lover? A good friend and industry contact once said to me that "An audiophile loves music, a stereophile loves equipment."I think people come at their entrance to the HiFi world along a continuum between the two poles. And to relate to another HiFi lover...
Denon 380 DCM CD Player Just curious, you don't often see a 5-disc carosel player used in a 2-ch setup with an outboard DAC. What put it on your short list? That said, as carosels in it's price range go, it's motor is quieter than many others, and it's a stoutly built uni...
Has anybody heard the Monster THX speaker line? I heard them last year at Monster's demonstration showroom across the street from their main campus in Brisbane CA, powered by their (then) new line of power amps.Their subs were deep enough, but I considered it indicative of the market they are a...
Review: Denon DRA395 Stereo Receiver I've always believed in seeking value in modest price points. Case in point, I use a Denon DRA295 and a faithful, but beat up pair of PSB Alpha's in my home office. My only source is my PC, for both music files and internet radio. And for it's pur...
Why not Minidiscs in the US? I was a huge MiniDisc proponent when I worked for Sony, and few were sadder than I to see the format tank.I adore my MDSJA30ES but occassionally ponder listing it for sale here. The only thing that stays my hand is that I'm not sure I could get be...
The black hole of component repair? Funny Story:When I was employed by Sony of Canada, I bought an MDSJE510 MiniDisc when it came out. In the first six months I sent it to service 3 times, each time for a separate fault. After the third time, I got into a testy debate with the head ... |
