Cable Costs Relative to System
Just to stir the pot, I have it on good authority that the "10% rule" (and indeed the "15% rule") were arbitrarily arrived at as a sales tool to coach lazy stereo store salesmen. The synergy factor is not so easily contained within such narrow, and...
Are refurbished Infocus projectors a good deal?
Some products make sense, like power amps. Projectors are finicky at the best of times.Personally, if I was to by a refurb like that, I would buy it from Infocus direct, and see about getting a longer warranty.

It doesn't matter who you are, or whether this is you business, hobby, or hobby-business. Life is all about taking care of each other.
Future of DVD-A
I concur with Tvad, and will add that the unbypassable video-based navigation menus to select tracks on some discs are a major agravation. On the other hand, the number of superior DVD-A's I have outnumber the superior SACD's. Many of the SACD's I'...

For most people, PVR's totally change the way they watch tv. It's one of those innovations that once you have it, you wonder how you ever lived without it.Regarding HDTV, I think the 2 key content streams that benefit the most is sports, and the m...

Replace a Yamaha Cr 840 with a Yamaha,NAD, Denon?
I was just singing the praises of the RX777 in another thread. Yamaha gets my kudos for still making great quality budget integrated stereo amps in an age of surround sound. The triple 7 and it's tunerless buddy the AX596 offer surprising value. W...

Another sign SACD is dying
All that can be said of Circuit City and Best Buy is that they are barometers of what the mass market is buying.Like it or not, Joe and Jane Normal aren't going to pay $30 for what they are told is a "better" CD. Their desire is for a handheld dev...
What kind of outlet wall plate do yo use?
I find that sticking my finger in the power socket has the biggest impact on my system's sound. It's more forward and strident when I stick my finger in the same socket as my gear. The effect is darker and more mellow when it's a socket on a differ...
full range signal to subwoofer
I can't imagine how, unless you wired a speaker level signal into the low level inputs.Regardless, with your sub's crossover set to some useful level such as <80hz, you won't even notice that your sub line is full range.
What are these on the speaker
Try the Totem Beak if you're interested. I don't know why they work, but they sure do!
whatz up with tape input/outputs?
Pabelson, kudos to you on the use of the word "disaggregate!"
