Question about suitable fuse metals
I've been using the copper slug in a Red Dragon S-500 and a titanium slug in a Bel Canto DAC 2.8 for 4 days now, perhaps up to 6 hrs per day and the sound has really transformed.  Initially, the sound with the slugs in place of the stock fuses was...
Question about suitable fuse metals
tksteingraber:  Happy to be a fellow sluggo, thank you very much!   Any chance you've heard slugs of any other material than copper?  I was also considering chemically pure tungsten from McMaster Carr.  I recall Bogdan Audio's Toto interconnect wa...
Question about suitable fuse metals
jasonbourne71:  I'll look into silver slugs.  Not too sure I want to splurge for a solid silver rod but I'll look into it.  And the titanium actually sounds quite good.  The subtle inner detail is easier to follow without any brightness.  I know y...
Question about suitable fuse metals
fpomposo:  Yeah, I may go that route eventually, try one and compare to the slugs I have on hand currently.  If the SR fuse isn't better than the slug(s), I could always turn around and re-sell.  Thanks.   jhnnrrs:  Why the venom?  And would you...
Question about suitable fuse metals
I bought 6" x 3/16" copper and titanium rods and had the local cnc shop cut them to 20mm lengths. And since I've only blown a couple fuses in 30+ yrs and have everything plugged into a Equi-core 1800, I'm really not all concerned.
Question about suitable fuse metals
imhififan:  I don't own a non-contact digital infrared laser thermometer gun but I have a construction buddy and will check with him.  That's good advice..  Thank you.
Question about suitable fuse metals
I'm aware that bypassing the fuse could be asking for trouble and I'm willing to take that risk.  In the last 30+ yrs of being an audiophile, I've blown only a couple fuses and those were in Chinese made tubed equipment (not a knock against Chi-Fi...
DH Labs power cables
blisshifi: regarding the Corona Cryo vs standard Corona, are there more differences than the plugs and the cryo treatment?  Can the standard cable be cryo treated to improve the sound?  Thanks!
Do CD Transports benefit much from upgraded power cords?
I recently did some experimenting on this exact topic.  I have some very good DIY cable, solid core copper with silver plating, and have used it throughout my system.  I had been using it as the power cord to my Bel Canto CDT-3 transport with the ...
RCA splitter
I know this example is not the same, but I think it has some applicability here.  I was using a pair of Cardas RCA to XLR adaptors on a pair of unbalanced interconnects where the source had xlr outputs and the amp only had rca inputs.  Eventually,...
Tip for purchase new power cable
I haven't heard any of the 3 cables indicated but I do have a fair amount of experience with Oyaide plugs, AC and XLR, and their outlets.  If you're using stock cords, I can't imagine the Tunami wouldn't be a significant step up.  They are quite a...
Upgrade from an Audio Alchemy DDP 1 + PS 5 power supply?
The T+A 200 looks quite impressive but $7000 is way out of my budget.  If you get one, Patrick, please let me know how it compares to the AA DDP 1.  Thanks
Upgrade from an Audio Alchemy DDP 1 + PS 5 power supply?
I purchased an upgraded umbilical from Revelation Audio Labs at the time I bought the Audio Alchemy duo and that was a pretty big improvement.  A Neotech NEVD 2001 with an Oyaide BNC and Xhadow RCA digital cable was a significant step up from my p...
Considering A 20-40 Watt Stereo SET Amp
The JAS Array is a 45w SET that can be ran as an integrated with 4 inputs and a passive preamp section or, with the flick of a switch, can be ran as a stereo amplifier using your choice of separate preamps.  With premium tubes, it's one of the bes...
Digital XLO signature RCA cable : Changing one end to BNC
If XLO is out of business, then you could have either Partsconnexion or Take 5 Audio in Canada do the retermination.  Cullen cables also does reterms if you aren't comfortable doing it yourself (I'm not and have had both Canadian companies cable o...
