Does anyone have an opinion about 7 ch. stereo?
I think it was Sam Tellig who said it best (to paraphrase): with two channel, less is more; with multi-channel, more is less. This might be an over simplification, but unless you've got an excess of money to waste on experimentation and disappoint...
managable and affordable indoor FM antenna
This is Lars again. I put mine on the floor and move it around until whatever station I'm trying to tune is clear. Higher may not be the answer. Again, Lars
Upgrade Path
I'm assuming your AR gear is tubed, and if so, are all tubes properly functioning or within acceptable parameters.? If not, I'd most likely be dissatisfied. -Lars-
managable and affordable indoor FM antenna
I use the C. Crain FM Reflect, which may be what you're using. I'm able to receive quite good reception from up to 65 miles away, however, I'm in an ideal location. I'll use these antennas until I erect a proper roof mounted yagi.
New fantastic room but system pissing off neighbor
Living in an apartment or relatively close space and playing music at "realistic levels" just plain doesn't mix. I have a great stereo and would never even consider the possibility. -Lars-
Any vinyl experts out there?
Do you have a local dealership in your area with which you would be comfortable developing a relationship? If so, I would seriously consider trying to get your money back from whomever you purchase your Music Hall. Then I would develop said relati...
Audience speaker cable questions
Yes, they are directional. Look for the stylized arrow under the Audience logo where the leads emerge near the terminated ends. The arrows should point towards the speakers.-Lars-
Needed subwoofer Recommendations.
I'm extremely happy with a Sunfire HRS-8 in my bedroom system utilizing Epos M-5 bookshelf speakers. This sub is a 10 inch cube that integrates seamlessly and provides very satisfying bass. It should be in your price range. -Lars-
Are the JL Fathom subs really that good....
I use a small sub (Sunfire HRS 8) in my bedroom system and a larger sub (Essex SW 2) in my main system. The rooms and systems are very different, but I've been able to seemlessly integrate both subs. I believe that component/speaker matching and s...
Amateur inherited an audio system...
it seems to me that you've been given a real opportunity; whoever bequeethed you this system must have had something in mind; enjoy your opportunity--lars
Cal Audio Labs Icon MK II
I don't know whether or not the upgrade is still available. However, I had my unit upgraded by CAL in 1995 and the positive overall improvements weren't subtle: particularly better bass, soundstaging, and musical involvement. I have since sold the...
What Rags carry the most review weight???
I enjoy all the mags listed, and in addition, especially Listener. But...I take them all with a grain of salt. I've enjoyed Naim gear for many years. You might consider the new Naim Nait 5 integrated which has received rave reviews in most every m...
CD player with naim nait 5
I replaced a CD 5/Flatcap with a used CDX. No comparison when partnered with my used NAP250/NAC102. I've seen used CDXs for as little as $2350. However, some say you need at least a Nac102 to realize what a CDX can do. I'm not sure. -lars-
Best speakers for my integrated amplifie
Pardon me, that's Ruark!
Best speakers for my integrated amplifie
I'd give Rurak speakers a try. I'm currently enjoying a recently discontinued model , the Talisman II. Excellent value and sound--$1750 new.
