Have you ever wondered why speaker manufactures do not consign speakers to dealers?
Thank you all for your feedback and discussion.I personally feel most of the dealers operate their business on a shoe string and they are often located out of their residence.  Because of limited resources, I feel manufactures need to consign 3 or...
Have you ever wondered why speaker manufactures do not consign speakers to dealers?
My experience in Colorado has been most of the dealers here work out of their homes with a shoe string budget.  As a result, they will often only carry the lower cost speaker models.  For example, I went to a dealer who carries both Monitor Audio ...
Which area of components to spend the most $ on? Boy I was wrong all my life!
Great discussion overall.  It's kind of like junk in junk out.  Surprised you would ever waste your money on a Marantz.  That's certainly not audiophile quality.
Paradigm Persona series
It seems like speaker cables must have some effect.  It has been difficult for me to find a dealer where you can hear various cables to determine if there is a difference.  I am a beginner and need to learn more.I listened to a lot of speakers bef...
Are manufacturers having discussions removed from Audiogon if they turn negative?
I too have noticed there have been other discussions removed.  I thought this forum was to discuss what is really happening out there.  People need to know both the positive and the negative. For example, I have experienced problems with Paradigm. ...
Power conditioner and high end power cord
How can a power conditioner make a system sound SIGNIFICANTLY better?  I would like to hear the difference.  If you never heard a system through a power conditioner no one would ever notice.  Upgrade your speakers or CD player.
Back to the drawing board
I am surprised no one mentions the ARCAM AVR850.  I love the G technology.  It plays the first 50 watts in pure A.  We switched between this and the MacIntosh and the ARCAM was far superior.  A lot more detail.  What is nice it provides the best o...
What do you mean you “heard” the turntable
I have a difficult time believing you can hear a significant difference between a $500 turntable and turntables costing $10,000 to #20,000.  All turn tables do is turn a vinyl disk at a constant speed.  As long as their is no feedback they should ...
How can I punish this Chinese audio dealer
I think you have learned a valuable lesson.  You should always deal with a local dealer.  The extra price is worth it.
Need speaker suggestion for a larger room!
Without question, the SALK Song3 Encore's are the best speakers I have heard in your price range.  I went to the Rocky Mountain Audio Fest in Denver back in October and thought these speakers sounded better than a pair of $60,000 speakers I listen...
Going to try digital
I am very happy with TIDAL.  I would suggest streaming with a Blue Sound so you can stream 24 Bit Hi-Res as well as MQA.  You can stream 16 bit if you hard wire your modem using Cad 6 to an Apple TV and then hard wire Cad 6 to the back of your amp...
Catastrophic Accident! What To Do!?
I agree with highway 61.  There has got to have been issues with your amp for years if you have had to replace so many fuses.  This would have indicated problems after the second one went out.  There has got to be a short somewhere that has caused...
Speaker suggestions
I can't imagine how you will be able to buy an audiophile speaker for $3,000.  I would encourage you to buy the SALK Song3 Encores at $6,000 a pair.  Jim Salk also makes a smaller speaker priced at $4,500.  Since he sells direct, he uses the best ...
Thinking about upgrading, but wondering about diminishing returns
I am a novice entering the audiophile world.  This said, I don't know how upgrading and spending so much money on speaker cables can make that much of a difference in sound.  I wonder if someone could explain this to me, as I have read several art...
Higher Efficiency Speakers
Since it takes more power to drive bass drivers, I wonder why all speakers are not built with a built in amplifier.  If that were the case wouldn't you just need to deliver a pure signal and allow the on board amplifiers to generate the sound?  Wo...
