Affordable vs. ultra expensive speakers - what's the difference? I think this hobby if full of opportunities to experience diminishing returns. However, there is a difference in sound quality. If you buy a pair of $15,000 speakers you then have to spend half that amount on an amplifier to drive them. It woul...
CD transport vs.streaming I have never heard of IMHO and IME? I purchased a power cord for my BlueSound Node 2i and I think it sounds better. I also purchased a high end digital cable to connect to my ARCAM AVR550. The cable company told me using a digital cable would i...
Totally overwhelmed (speakers under $5k) I don't feel SVS subwoofers are very musical. REL's high level connection provides a seamless integration. You would be surprised by the sound of SALK Song 3 Encores. When I auditioned the Focal 926 I kept on saying, "Where's the bass". I am i...
Buyer Dispute I would have a difficult time buying from a private party for these reasons. Did they ship with insurance to cover either repair or replacement. I buy new cars and buy new sound gear new as well for these same reasons. I also like knowing they ...
Why People Like Tekton i would never consider Tekton because of the ugly factor. We have a beautiful living room and they would goober up the look. I listened to a pair of Revel Performa speakers. They really were detailed and lively. I also like my Harmon Kardon so...
High End Intergraded comparisons, Marantz, McIntosh, Levinson, Luxman.... I have the largest surround receiver Murantz makes. I certainly would not consider anything Murantz makes as audiophile. Luxman would be my first pick. However, they cost $11,000 retail. I can buy one for $7,000.
Auto-Tune, Snake Oil, Fuses, Cables, Room Correction, Best DAC, Measurements & Tekton I am not going to read such fine print.
What are your favorite "HOT" songs? Nasty by Vincent Ingala is by far the best demo song to show off a sound system.
Underpowered? A pair of REL S2 SHO Subwoofers would solve the problem. Take some of the weight out of the towers and create a better sound stage.
Placement of Single Subwoofer Affecting Sound of Main Speakers What components do you have? What subwoofers do you own? What is the size of your room? Sounds like you don’t have room for your subs anyway?
Seeking advice for speakers for my Family Room Klipsh are not audiophile speakers. They are very harsh. There are many others that are better. What kinds of music do you listen to. Do you like high frequency detail, etc. Be more specific. There are many in this discussion group that c...
Budget integrated amp needed I personally wouldn't dump a lot of money into a bedroom system. What about a living room?
Audio Research Ref75 se Have you looked at the Luxman 509X. This supplies Class for part of it's output so it won't overheat. I think this would produce plenty of power. Be curious what others in this group think.
The hunt is over My wife would kick me out of the house if my system looked like this. I think there are ways to hide the gear in a stereo cabinet and find speakers that aren't so huge. I like the size of the new Revel Performa speakers. They are very nimble and...
Seeking advice for speakers for my Family Room I think you have a difficult room to work with. Your room opens up to the right with all those hard surfaces. You lose a lot of compression and lose your sound stage. Maybe install hardwood floors and put two 9x12 rugs. The timber of the room ... |
