Streamer/CD ripper
“how does the sound quality compare playing the file on a streamer versus playing the CD on a CD player?” @klarinet Technically, a ripped CD should sound the same as the one played through a cd player. But in reality, just like no two cd player ...
Streamer upgrade?
@bikeboy52 Denafrips DAC’s are a smart choice irrespective of its origin. They are well designed & implemented; if it weren’t for direct sell model, you would be paying twice as much. Just enjoy pursuit :-)
Streamer upgrade?
+1, @vonhelmholtz on using better cords and optimizing the Ethernet path.    @bikeboy52  Congratulations! N200 with Pontus II would be a substantial upgrade over A100. Once you settle down with N200, tinker with network optimization to maximize ...
Has anyone listened to or auditioned Verity's new Arindale speaker ?
“so when you choose the right stuff 70 to 100,000 will do it.” +1, @havocman  There is a deep learning curve in one’s pursuit of audio nirvana. One can achieve it at a reasonable cost as long as you know how to put together a system. Synergy betw...
Digital is far better than vinyl
I agree with @ghdprentice. Once you implement a digital streaming system with same level of dedication as your analog, you are in for a royal treat. And I cannot stress enough the importance of a good streamer (source) and DAC much like a TT and p...
Streamers and their Fuses
“I got the Paul Pang Audio PPA OCXO 10M Master Clock for $575 here on Audiogon.” @brandonhifi I hate to be the one to say this…I looked up the specs of PPA, for a 10MHz clock, -120dBc/Hz at 10Hz offset is not very impressive--especially since th...
Streamers and their Fuses
@brandonhifi I am using Merging Technologies +clock for my Merging DAC and Aurender N20. I am very likely to upgrade to either W20SE or N30SA sometime next year. Can’t quite make up my mind :-) https://nadac.merging.com/product/merging-clock
Streamers and their Fuses
@brandonhifi  Just looked at your system, loved the attention to detail! A system like yours can greatly benefit from an external clock. IME, you can simultaneously elevate the performance of both MK3-CDT3 and W20SE. You may think the internal OC...
Are mcintosh rca and xlr cables any good.
What’s not to like, gold plating is to die for! If you own McIntosh components they will be the ideal match!  “McIntosh premium audio cables are engineered to optimize the performance of our amplifiers, preamplifiers, source components and speake...
Has anyone ever tried cables made with OCC (Ohno Continuous Cast) Copper?
@pindac Thanks for your post but it appears PC-OCC is still being used by many long after Furukawa decided to cease the production. Interestingly, the PC-Triple C came from FCM (Fine Chemicals & Materials), part of the Furukawa Group and its...
Streamers and their Fuses
While I never tried Audio Magic fuses, I always preferred HiFi Tuning Fuses over few I’ve tried in the past (including SR). My go to reference for Aurender streamers (N10 and N20) is HiFi Tuning Supreme Cu…a slightly warmer and more organic and de...
HoloAudio STREAMER is out now
@hilde45 Thanks for your posting. The ‘Red’ appears to be a very versatile streamer/DDC converter with amazing array of hardware connections and software options. I believe the I²S connection is superior than USB or SPDIF in conveying digital bi...
Built-in vs. Standalone DACs
“Ignoring the flexibility argument for a minute, which route provides better SQ?” @arafiq I often hear folks saying integrated got me close to 85-90% performance of separates. For many that’s good enough considering the entry price for separates...
Zavfino OCC SILVER DART 1.5 power cable
@ortodox While you await feedback, here is the most relevant thread on Zavfino cables. I would reach out to Raymond at zavfinousa to see if he’s got any demo pc for your in-home audition. https://forum.audiogon.com/discussions/zavfino?highlight...
Hi-end audio is a big zero
To the OP, Read all you want. Talk all you want. Listen at dealers all you want. But unless your listening room is acoustically treated, expecting a good sound from a decently put together system is all meaningless and waste of your money.
