How much clearance do I need to cool tube amp?
I've never owned that amp so the thoughts I express here might me incorrect but I'm thinking more like 8" to 12" clearance for cooling.

Do cables settle in?
Some times yes and some times no.I've had it work both ways depending upon the cable. 
Definitive Technology Incline or something else ?
I own the Audioengine 5+ speakers and I'm very impressed with them. I also use the Audioengine S8 powered subwoofer. These speakers kick some serious butt without the subwoofer. IMO the Audioengine products are worth looking into.

I'd also look into the Magnum Opus speaker cable, and I third the recommendation by Richards to go for the Kaplan Cables GS MK2!

I have no knowledge of the interconnects you speak of but to me it's just easier to use a good interconnect that I like and not think of having to tune it. Just my opinion I'm sure others will disagree.
