Devore The Nines owners compare The Nines to The Super Nines or ....?
I have owned the Nines and the O/96, and now I own the Super Nines. I have not owned the O/93 but I think my experience would be relevant for you. The O/96 is the best speaker I've ever had, and I've owned at least 20 brands over the last 40 years...
Wilson Audio Sabrina . . . I'm smitten. Should I consider others?
The Devore O/96 requires a fairly large listening space and the ability to sit a reasonable distance from the speakers. They do fine along the long wall of my16 by 21 room about 9 feet from my seat, but they sounded even better in the dealer's roo...
Low-heat-output amp for Devore O/96
fsonicsmith, no apology necessary. I've had my share of snarky moments.
Low-heat-output amp for Devore O/96
Thanks wlutke. Pass amps are high on my list, if I can find one that doesn't put out a lot of heat. Sounds like the XA25 might be the way to go.
Low-heat-output amp for Devore O/96
Thanks for all the great suggestions thus far. fsonicsmith, I am responding to your post only because I don’t want anyone to get the impression that the 9/96 is putting me to sleep. I clearly stated that I tend to doze off only when I’m playing ba...
Low-heat-output amp for Devore O/96
Roberjerman I have considered the Rogue Sphinx, but with the logistics of my setup, I need a separate preamp to be able to connect all my components, the amp has to be closer to the speakers. I'll figure it out.
Low-heat-output amp for Devore O/96
Thank for another suggestion, atmasphere. It's not a matter of the AC keeping up. The problem is the thermostat for our AC/heat pump is in our main living room, a long way from my man cave listening room. So that thermostat will read the temperatu...
Low-heat-output amp for Devore O/96
Interesting suggestion, atmasphere, I will look into that. But I still need a solid-state alternative, not just for the heat (which can be considerable in my listening room with a tube preamp and amp going), but also because I tend to fall asleep ...
Devore Gibbon X or O/96?
No_regrets, I apologize for not responding sooner, I am just now seeing your post. My listening room is 15 by 19, with a ceiling that slopes upward towards the listening seat. The speakers are along the long wall (for some reason, speakers always ...
What is best tweeter height for the Devore O/96?
Well Beyreuth, it appears the Pass XA30.8 is a behemoth of 100 lbs., that eliminates it from consideration for my particular age and spine demographic. Maybe the XA30.5 or the First Watts for me.
Original ProAc Response 2 vs. Gibbon Super 8
I will have to disagree that the Response 2 and the Devores are very different-sounding speakers. I owned the Response 2, twice, and even had the woofers replaced at one point due to the deterioration as mentioned above. Later, I owned the Devore ...
What is best tweeter height for the Devore O/96?
Thanks, I will check out the XA30.8.
What is best tweeter height for the Devore O/96?
I've been using Shindo Monbrison and Montille (CV391 version), and also a Croft integrated. It's the kind of speaker I'd like to be able to try a dozen different amp/preamps, because it seems to bring out the best in the amps and there are always ...
What is best tweeter height for the Devore O/96?
Hey Sunnyjim, I'm sure that brandy and cigar was what convinced  Art Dudley and the other reviewers to purchase Devore speakers and use them long-term. I purchased mine sans cigar. Bayreuth, that was a great question to start this thread, and th...
$16K new/used speaker question?
Hi Tom, you are definitely on the right track to meet your goals. I previously owned the Devore 9 (5 years) and now own the O/96 and they are very responsive to quality tube amplifcation. I got a chance to audition the 0/96 and the Gibbon X side b...
