Sansui SP-1500 Speakers
I have had mine playing continuosly since I began the post. They really are starting to open up. ( who would have though this with such an old pair of speakers? ) At first they were very scratchy sounding in the mids and highs, now they are smooth...
Sansui SP-1500 Speakers
Bdgregory,Thanks for the reply. I did a bit more research and found that the SP-1700's were rated at 70 watts. It seems to me that I saw a pair of SP-1600's on ebay one time so I assume that mine would be rated at 50 watts. I picked mine up from a...
diy bias meter
Yup, it will work I stopped in to a stereo repair store and the guy had done just that with one. Ummmmmm but I thought for sure there would be some techy person of the fast volume of agon members that would have had that answer :)
How do tube Watts compare to SS Watts?
I powered a pair of Vandersteen Model 3 speakers with Quicksilver tube M-60 amps ( rated at 60 watts ) During that time I did a demo with a CJ MF2300 ( rated at 200 watts ) I could not hear a significant difference other than a bit more bass. I wa...

Well I left the amp sitting in my truck becuase I forgot to throw it away. And then I got to talking with a co-worker ( whom grauated from Electronic school ) that told me most likely there was nothing wrong with the power supply, most likely it w...
Suggestion for preamp - Spendor's & Cary
NewbeeLOL!! Actually the line should have been written " I myself am definitely NOT NOT NOT the last word when it comes to high-end audio "I am not offended in your post all at. Just having a casual voice of opinion. Yes it is good to keep an open...
Suggestion for preamp - Spendor's & Cary
Newbee, At the risk of getting totally of the gents original intention.....I myself am definitely the last word when it come to high-end audio. I don't read all the articles form various stereo magazines. Therefor I don't know how to express all t...
Suggestion for preamp - Spendor's & Cary
I don't think the Cary your using is going to do the trick if your looking for gut wrenching bass, or if you want to tun it up and have the music blow your hair back. Your only pumping 40 watts into those big Spendors. But if you like the amp then...
Sansui AU-217
Never mind asnwering the question. I was just on a web site that was quite informative.
Sansui AU-217
Sorry my mistake. It is a " TU-217 " So that answers my question, since it is not lighted. Sounds quite good though! Anyone know how high up the chain I need to go before the dial is lighted? I once had a 517 tuner that was lighted. Anything below...
Sansui A-80 help
I thought it through and in the end you were correct. It is not worth it. I already have a half dozen amps sitting here collecting dust. I will most likely throw it out unless the repair shop wants it. thanks for the advice!
Sansui A-80 help
I managed to get a estimate on it. It needs a power supply. anyone know where I could get a power supply for it?
Sansui A-80 help
Seems logical but the guy I bought it from claimed it was working 2 months ago. I would hope that I could fire it right up with only a 2 month break.88
chosing a cassette deck
I guess I wasn't looking for an expensive tape deck as eventually I will give up on tapes. My main concern was buying a tape deck that was going to stop after playing both sides. Maybe I will pick up a Yamaha or JVC on ebay. If it works maybe I wi...
Marantz or NAD
I thought the NAD leaned more towards the middle as for as sound goes. Marantz was a touch warmer. But in the same price range I found the NAD to be more detailed in the presentation. If I recall the Marantz PM-7200 has a nice feature. You can swi...
