Amp shootout.....Tenor 75wi verses Berning ZH270
Mzn50,I have to disagree with you. The better your front end and cables are, the better your amps have to be in order to take full advantage of all of the extra info. It truly is the neverending journey. Once you upgrade one thing you eventually h...
Amp shootout.....Tenor 75wi verses Berning ZH270
Del,I highly recommend you change the input tubes. If you think the Berning is good now, it will be on a different level with good tubes. You would be amazed at the difference.Kris

Cardas Neutral Ref Speaker Cable Upgraders
One brand of cable which has really blown me away with its performance to price ration is StageIII Concepts. This stuff is literally hand crafted. every inch, every one! They are a silver conductor utilizing an air dielectric. Check them out at ww...
Amp shootout.....Tenor 75wi verses Berning ZH270
This is a interesting shootout. I am curious, was the Berning using stock tubes in the input? I own a Berning and have changed the stock input tubes to N.O.S. The difference is anything but subtle. Many of the shortcomings addressed in this thread...
Berning ZH270 + AP Virgos = magic?
I have never heard the combo in question, but am quite confident that it would be a good match. I own a 270, and have personally run a variety of different speakers ranging from Magnepans 1.6qr, and 3.6 to Dunlavy scIV/A's. I have also heard it dr...
Why no threads on OTL amps?
jtinn,Apparently I ruffled a feather or two when I stated my "opinion" that I preferred the Berning to the Tenor. I do agree that the systems were different. I cannot imagine, however, that manufacturers mate equipment at these shows with speakers...
Why no threads on OTL amps?
Hello Kenl,I am going to try to answer the last two messages. Kenl, Preference Audio is a brand new company which is from Quebec. I had a chance to listen to these speakers(which are appropriately named "Baby Bears" as they are large 175lbs each) ...
Why no threads on OTL amps?
Hi Tim, I had a chance to listen to the Tenor's running a pair of Lamhorns(I think)at the Montreal show this weekend. The sound was very nice. In fact I felt the tenor and the ZH270 shared in some qualities. The ZH270 at the show was running a new...
Interconnects at modest cost?
I too will concur with the above, and recommend Zu Cable. I Just purchased the Oxyfuel. For the money they seem to be quite a bargain. Their customer service seems to be excellent as well, quite friendly. Best of luck.
OTL amps with Wilson Watt/Puppy 6s
I own a David Berning ZH270, and I whole heartedly agree with the above statements. The ZH270 will run just about anything very well with plenty of dynamics and finesse to boot. This is truly a world class amplifier, and I dare any other OTL ampli...
"Fast sounding tube amp" with plenty of power? any?
One of the fastest amps out there has got to be the David Berning ZH270 OTL. I have yet to find an amp that can keep up. This 10 lbs. wonder is quite possibly the most advanced amplifier there is. The ZH270 has blown away every amplifier I've comp...
Blue Circle BC8 monoblocks
I have not heard these models but I do own the BC22 and enjoy it very much indeed. I hear the BC8 mono blocks may be closest in sound to their BC26 stereo amp. Recently, Soundstage! (www.soundstage.com) submitted a review of the BC26 in their on-l...
Music for "Tough Times"
Even when times are at there toughest, one can not escape the up-lifting feeling one recieves from listening to Mapleshades recording of the ARC (Addicts Rehabilitation Center) Gospel Choir. All of the people within this choir were one foot in the...
OTL amps
I have quite a bit of experience with the David Berning ZH-270 and I whole heartedly agree with Thorty40. From reading all of the posts on this thread, one of the biggest concerns with OTL amplifiers is there ability (or in some cases inability) t...
