Audio discounts during Coronavirus
@facten,You quoted me, and I detect the sarcasm; that's fine.  Sometimes when a dealer gives you a really great deal, you are doing them a favor by not thereafter blabbing about it, if you know what I mean...  That's why I said what I said, which ...
Yamaha R-N803 one of the best values in high-end audio?
The biggest thing that tipped me toward the marantz was the superior dac vs the Yamaha. Marantz uses 32 bit AK 4490 dac, while the Yamaha uses a 24 bit ess 9006 dac. To me that alone was more than worth the extra $250, as I much prefer AK sound to...
Yamaha R-N803 one of the best values in high-end audio?
Marantz pm7000n at $999 is a worthy competitor, albeit at a slightly higher msrp.  One of the Brit mags reviewed the Marantz and declared it the best all-in-one under a grand, and specifically noted that it bested the Bluesound Powernode 2i.  I ha...
Audio discounts during Coronavirus
It’s a fair question. No need to get all philosophical about it. What I’ve seen is that local brick and mortar dealers, especially those that are shut down due to stay at home orders, are willing to discount perhaps more than normal if contacted (...
Your "Best of..." audio manufacturer in each state
We’ve got some amazing heavyweight and middleweight contenders in MN, including Audio Research, Magnepan, Bel Canto, Atma-Sphere, Audio Mirror, and others, but Audio Research gets my vote as the GOAT 🐐 of amplifier and preamplifier brands. To conti...
All-in-one: $1k Marantz or $2k Hegel?
Completed the marantz purchase today so the pm7000n is on its way. When it gets here and after I get it broken in I’ll post my comparative impressions vs the Powernode 2.
TEAC NT-505 impossible connecting to WiFi router o such LAN: help me please?
OP,Bummer - sorry to hear that. No suggestions for alternative but whatever you decide, let us know what you get and how you like it. Good luck!
All-in-one: $1k Marantz or $2k Hegel?
Thanks for the nice words and for the anticipation of a further review. The reason I didn’t just have it shipped to me was that I ordered a bunch of other stuff too and only put a down payment down so far, expecting the shutdown to be just two wee...
How I spent my time at home
I spent two hours yesterday better rerouting cables in my main setup so that as much as possible all speaker and interconnect cables were as distantly spaced as possible from all power cords.  My wife thinks I'm frikkin' crazy....
TEAC NT-505 impossible connecting to WiFi router o such LAN: help me please?
Congrats bigfanga. Yep, it’s a great sounding dac/streamer!  I also strongly prefer the AK dac sound to the ESS options I've heard.  But a lot of the Teac's goodness also comes from all the other Esoteric-trickle-down (Teac is parent co. of Esoter...
Tidal Error Message
Right, if you only have a single Tidal interface going at once and you use other whole-house or multi-room technology to get the single stream to different areas, I can see that, sure. But if I’m reading the last two posts correctly, it is true tha...
Tidal Error Message
I've gotten a Tidal error saying being used on another device, even when I was sure I wasn't using it elsewhere.  But then it turned out I actually was (had been using Tidal on other system and just muted and put into standby without actually stop...
TEAC NT-505 impossible connecting to WiFi router o such LAN: help me please?
I didn’t even know v1.22 existed because on the Teac Europe site they don’t have 1.22, just 1.21. Wonder why that would be? That’s why initially when you guys started talking about 1.22 I didn’t understand what you were talking about.in the year I...
TEAC NT-505 impossible connecting to WiFi router o such LAN: help me please?
Maybe try version 1.21 firmware if you haven’t already?? Which if I recall was from December 2018. I did notice an improvement going from the shipped firmware version to 1.21. Mainly more stable in terms of dropouts during play is what I found aft...
Oscilloscopes - what specs to look for?
25 years ago when I was a digital design engineer, Tektronix and Lecroy were the big players in scopes. The techs in the lab preferred the Lecroys for scopes and the Teks for signal analyzers, as I recall. I have no idea if that still the case now...
