2 ch. or 5.1 amp for HT mostly for music This is just my personal opinion. I used to have a complete home theater, now I have a stereo. Think about this for just a minute and maybe you'll seen what I found out, for myself anyway. You have $5K, $10K, $15K, etc. in your hand ready to buy s...
Best Amp. stands Check into one of the Sistrum stands at www.audiopoints.com. You can even audition one on a trial basis at home to see if you like it.
Any DAC better than the MF A324 Upsampler? Are there any MF Tri-Vista 21 DAC's left? It's really nice. I had a Theta Gen III and traded it for a Conrad-Johnson D/A-3 (about $400.00 used) that blew the Theta Gen III away, I think. In fact, before I traded mine in on the Tri-Vista, I had the...
Changing to less expensive gear. I decided to start upgrading after six years of having the same system about this time last year. Being a computer programmer, I figured that the best place to start was on the digital end. I began with the digital cable, replacing my old MIT Digi...
Ageing Krell KSA150 - repair or replace I would consider replacing you KSA-150. I had the KRC-3 Pre-Amp and KSA-50S Amp and thought that it was "IT" until last Christmas when I heard the Musical Fidelity A308cr Amp. I couldn't stand to listen to the Krell after that because the drums an...
Suggestions on a good Stereo HT from $1000-$1500 Thanks, Slappy. I appreciate your time and thoughts.
Power Cables - 15amp or 20amp Yes it matters. Most will be 15 Amp. However, the Shunyata Hydra-8 and 6 power conditioners require 20 Amp. The normal ones that you see are 15 Amp. The 20 Amp connector looks different.
Getting more from my DAC Try the Stereovox HDXV like Photon46 suggested. It's a great digital cable. It's only $100.00 and may be purchased (or just auditioned first) from The Cable Company. Ask for John Pharo, he's a nice and knowledgeable guy who can really help. The Ca...
How good is my amplification? Advice please. I recently traded my Krell KRC-3 and KSA-50S (about $6300.00) in on a Musical Fidelity A308cr pre-amp and amp (about $6300.00).I had the Krell's for ten years and thought they walked on water. I happened to hear the Musical Fidelity pieces and had...
Whats is the the best? The best center channel I've ever used was nothing! Seriously, I had a HT with four Adcom GFP-555 amps (two bridged to mono for the fronts), Definitive Tech. BP-20 and BP-10 full range towers all around, and a Lexicon processor.I sold it all and b...
Question for Dunlavy ScIII users Mike, you asked about the room. My room in the basement is 16' x 23' with a 7' ceiling. I've had the system on both the long and short wall. The short wall worked better because I have the speakers 4'-5' out into the room, and along the short wall...
Question for Dunlavy ScIII users I'm glad Piezo brought up tubes. I bought a pair of B&W Silver Signatures ($8000.00) to use in my main system when I moved it into the basement because they were stand mounted monitors. They didn't have the bass of the Dunlavy's of course, so ...
Question for Dunlavy ScIII users Like Spudco said, the Dunlavy's are easy to drive. I had a pair of SC-III's for a short time, but returned them for the SC-IV's for more bass. I drove both with a Krell KSA-50S, 50 watts into 8 ohms, but the Krell is a powerful amp. The Dunlavy's ...
Need some Suggestions on Best Digital Cable I have two suggestions. First is the Stereovox HDXV at $100.00, it's made by Chris Sommovigo who made the Kimber D-60 ten years ago. It sounds better than the D-60, and it's $200.00 cheaper. The reviewers are praising it. Second is the Sonoran Pla...
Digital Cables Thanks Michael! I'm glad to hear about the Theta against the Musical Fidelity. One thing that I don't understand is the transports, since they should just be reading and sending the data. You know, if you just put the CD on repeat, you can get 168... |
