Is it caused by the transport or the dac?
The new transport is a dealer demo that I'm auditioning, so it does have a number of hours on it. I'm also running it 24 hours a day myself. I don't want to name the transport because if it doesn't work in my system, that doesn't mean that it won'...
PS Audio Control Amp vs. Jeff Rowland Concerto
PS Audio is nowhere close to being in the same league the the Jeff Rowland. I'm not talking about a step or two above, I'm talking on the next floor.
bi-amping Dunlavy IV speakers
The tops are the highs, bottoms and the lows.
Regrets, I've had a few...
My only serious regret is loaning by copy of "Whole World Party" by The Fool's to an ex-girlfriend. We broke up and I never got it back. Man, I'd give a lot to get another copy.
bi-amping Dunlavy IV speakers
I used to bi-wire my SC-IV's with a Krell KSA-50S and they definitely sound better that way, bi-amping ought to be even better. To bi-amp, you can either:1. almost like bi-wiring, run the full range signal to the highs from one channel of your amp...
Review: Harmonic Precision Caravelle Speaker
Very nice review, now be prepared for the assault! I can understand the confusion. A product from a new or relatively unheard of company is something to be a little cautious about at first, but AudioPoints has been one of Stereophile's recommended...
Speakers for low power amps?
Just being nosy, but why do you want to give up the system you have? It looks like a really good system.Have you considered keeping the amp and speakers, and going with a good tube pre-amp like a Herron VTSP-1A/166 or VTSP-2, Conrad-Johnson Premie...
Jeff Rowland 201´s or Ayre V-5 X
If you'll look at my system and read the responses, you'll see my reaction after I bought the Musical Fidelity and then heard the M201's.
Jeff Rowland 201´s or Ayre V-5 X
I've heard both in Cincinnati, OH. I'd go with the Jeff Roland's without a second thought. They sound so sweet you'll think you're in heaven.
Thoughts on the new B&W 800D series speakers
S7horton, I am considering a speaker change, that why I went to hear them. I'm very pleased with my system, but like a car, I've had them for seven years and it's time for a change. I haven't found anything yet that has made me want to sell my Sil...
Synergy - Mix and Match - Solid State of Mind
Belles 150A Reference with the Harmonic Precision Caravelle. Hopefully TheAudioTweak will see this and respond, he has more intimate knowledge than I of the Belles amp. He owns the Caravelles, I've heard them quite a few times at his home and they...
Where to put damping sheets?
The adverse effect is that the music loses it's dynamics and lifelike sound ( duller or darker ).
preamp to system match
I had my sights on a c-j Premier 17LS2, when I was pursuaded to try a Herron VTSP-1A/166. I'm very thankful that I listened. A used one on Audiogon is around $2000.00. It's one of the former Stereophile Class 'A' pre-amps. There are reviews out th...
What should I use between spikes and wood floor?
I use the Audiopoints and coupling discs that WarrenH suggested. They work really well and they're fairly cheap. Looking at your system pictures, you may benefit from the Audiopoints under all of your components too. I know that I did. I just purc...
Final ditch effort to improve my sound. Pls. help
I'd suggest a Musical Fidelity Tri-Vista 21 DAC (there's a new one listed on Audiogon) and a transport of your choosing. You might even try what you have to see how it does as a transport for a reference point.
